The inaugural Montreal Women Film Festival began a few years ago at Cinema du Parc in celebration of International Women's Day on March 8th. During the event, Linda Serpone, President of the Montreal Council of Women, highlighted the festival's significance in acknowledging films focused on women's rights and supporting female directors.

The Montreal Women Film Festival, in partnership with Women Cinema Daily magazine, represents empowerment, creativity, and innovation, celebrating the remarkable accomplishments of women in film and media. Committed to displaying the vision and talent of women in the industry, the festival hosts seasonal competitions and annual screenings at Cinema du Parc for finalists, featuring both international and Canadian women in films and media.

Each year, Cinema du Parc hosts an annual event featuring the screening of finalists, which includes a red carpet, photoshoots, networking opportunities, and film screenings. These films span genres such as fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, comedy, and sci-fi, all directed by women from around the world.

Every season, we organize a competition that is recognized by IMDb for female artists in different categories and offer screenings to the winners and finalists. The seasonal competition focuses on marketing and showcasing films, honoring the best of each season in human rights, drama, and various genres that highlight women's voices.

The yearly screenings and competition emphasize the influence of independent female filmmakers who produce both short and feature films across different genres. Our aim is to provide women directors with opportunities for digital and cinema screenings. Our team is dedicated to showcasing emerging and established international and Canadian female filmmakers across various genres.

🌟 Winning Best Actress for my niece very first movie is a true testament to her talent. At just 9 years old by that time, she delivered a performance full of depth, authenticity and professionalism well beyond her years. Aliya didn’t just act: she carried Ancestors with strength and grace, leading our cast & crew brightly. What makes this even more special is that she inspired me to produce the film in the first place. A star in the making, without a doubt. Thank you for acknowledging her art and our collective creation powered by our Ancestors ✨
