“What a great competition and so so valuable...I’ve already had a surge of new followers on Twitter…winning this has already helped me with spec emails and garnering more interest when networking.” LSC Winner.

One of the world's most innovative screenwriting competition.

"...their coverage of the script was excellent...The way it was divided into a number of writing elements was extremely helpful. It was supportive, encouraging, constructive and as objective as one can be when critiquing artistic work." LSC Winner.

Are you confused and concerned by the emerging world of A.I. and Screenwriting? No need to be. LSC is here to help you.

"Warner Bros.' 2022 deal with Cinelytic for AI-assisted decisions and Netflix's use of AI tools in content strategy showcase its growing influence", Forbes

"Producers and studio executives run a tight schedule. It’s impossible to read through mountainous stacks of scripts. ", Industrial Scripts

In 2024, LSC partnered with a Senior Research Fellow in Artificial Intelligence and Creativity to provide 3 pages of notes using a cutting-edged A.I. system, for your whole screenplay. Remember: multiple producers/studios are already experimenting with such systems to help them find the best scripts.

"One producer mentioned to me that thousands of readers are already being replaced. So, if you're considering becoming a [screenplay] reader, it might be worth taking a closer look at where the market's heading", BBC Writers Blog 2024

Scripts in LSC will be judged through a combination of how well they perform in this analysis, using the input of a professional screenwriter as a tie-breaker. This process provides a good indication of how your script may fair during any A.I. processing by studios, agents and producers. Such combined analysis of scripts by A.I. and human expert is going to become increasingly common.

"Speaking personally, AI coverage has really increased my company's efficiency. We probably use it to cover about 10 scripts a week (we're small)", Industry Insider.

Although screenwriting is at its heart a human creative act, LSC also provides an opportunity for writers to experiment with A.I. screenwriting. In addition to our standard screenplay competition, we have a parallel entry stream for screenplays written by, or with the help of A.I.

"AI excels at tasks like...brainstorming, and structural analysis", Stage32
"AI can help identify potential weaknesses in a script", The Successful Screenwriter

Entering the London International Screenwriting Competition is not only about the opportunity to add a win to your CV, but also to open your mind to the future. Always remember - creativity is an essentially human act. We will never be replaced, but perhaps A.I. can be a creative partner!

"Technology is nothing. What's important is that you have faith in people, that they're basically good and smart, and if you give them tools, they'll do wonderful things with them.", Steve Jobs

I would like to thank the selection committee of the London International Screenplay Competition for their tireless work in reading through screenplays and selecting Muddy Munday, about a Jamaican born, British football legend and his stubborn Irish sidekick, who battle their own turbulent pasts, as they cautiously enter a mixed group of Protestant and Catholic orphans into the Northern Ireland Football Games.”
