Umana Solidarietà is an international event which, in accordance with the United Nations Statute and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, through the screening of films from around the world, promotes respect for the fundamental human rights, the dignity and the value of the human person, for the equality of the rights of man and woman, as well as the culture of good politics that places the mankind and his right to happiness at the center of his action.

In this way, Umana Solidarietà aims to raise awareness of the audience on the relevance, protection and promotion of human rights, and to promote a system of values that supports harmonious relations between different people – regardless of the reason for their difference

At the same time, Umana Solidarietà aims to promote the social progress through a fruitful exchange of ideas and experiences among the general public, as well as direct confrontation with authors, scientists, researchers and scholars, journalists, public administrators, politicians and intellectuals, with the triple function of informing, inspire renewed passion for activism and generating actions of empowerment of skills, particularly those of young people.

The competition is open to all producers / authors (companies, associations, schools and individuals). Individuals, both professionals and non-professionals, must be 18 years of age at the time of registration of their work. The works created by minors can be registered by those who exercise parental authority.

We are looking for films wich celebrate civil commitment in favor of human rights, democratic values, the rule of law, freedom of expression, political and cultural pluralism or that they report their absence or violation. They can deal with the issues of politics, civil rights, social movements, youth movements, political history, peace, tolerance, welcoming refugees, inspiring stories of those who want to change the world and historical personalities.

The final event will take place in Salento on December 10, 2023. All views will be free of charge.

As a political and cultural event, Umana Solidarietà offers a wide audience screenings, public debates, conferences, concerts, exhibitions, workshops, dialogues and shows.

Film Screening.
The 18 finalist films, 6 in each category, will be screened during the Festival. At the same time, the films will be screened for free in schools, communities and other venues.

Umana Solidarietà è un evento internazionale che, in accordo con lo Statuto delle Nazioni Unite e la Dichiarazione Universale dei Diritti Umani, attraverso la proiezione di film provenienti da tutto il mondo, promuove il rispetto dei diritti umani fondamentali, della dignità e del valore della persona umana, dell'uguaglianza dei diritti dell'uomo e della donna, nonché la cultura della buona politica che pone l'uomo e il suo diritto alla felicità al centro della propria azione.

In questo modo, Umana Solidarietà mira a sensibilizzare il pubblico sull'importanza, la tutela e la promozione dei diritti umani, e a promuovere un sistema di valori che sostenga relazioni armoniose tra persone diverse - indipendentemente dalla ragione della loro differenza.

Allo stesso tempo, Umana Solidarietà intende promuovere il progresso sociale attraverso un proficuo scambio di idee ed esperienze tra il grande pubblico, nonché il confronto diretto con autori, scienziati, ricercatori e studiosi, giornalisti, amministratori pubblici, politici e intellettuali, con la triplice funzione di informare, ispirare una rinnovata passione per l'attivismo e generare azioni di empowerment delle competenze, in particolare quelle dei giovani.

Il concorso è aperto a tutti i produttori/autori (aziende, associazioni, scuole e singoli individui). I soggetti, professionisti e non, devono aver compiuto 18 anni al momento della registrazione dell'opera. Le opere create da minori possono essere registrate da chi esercita la patria potestà.

Cerchiamo film che celebrino l'impegno civile a favore dei diritti umani, dei valori democratici, dello stato di diritto, della libertà di espressione, del pluralismo politico e culturale o che ne denuncino l'assenza o la violazione. Possono trattare i temi della politica, dei diritti civili, dei movimenti sociali, dei movimenti giovanili, della storia politica, della pace, della tolleranza, dell'accoglienza dei rifugiati, delle storie ispiratrici di coloro che vogliono cambiare il mondo e dei personaggi storici.

L'evento finale si terrà in Salento il 10 dicembre 2023. Tutte le visioni saranno gratuite.

Come evento politico e culturale, Umana Solidarietà offre a un vasto pubblico proiezioni, dibattiti pubblici, conferenze, concerti, mostre, laboratori, dialoghi e spettacoli.

The jury of the Festival evaluates films and decides on the winners and awardees of the Festival in the following categories:

• International Human Rights Films just for foreign films
• Mediterranean Human Rights Films just for Mediterranean films
• Italian Human Rights Films just for italian films
• Animation Human Rights Films aimed to any story of animation realized in any technical way.

There will be 3 awards relating to the above categories:
• Umana Solidarietà International Award
• Umana Solidarietà Italian Award
• Umana Solidarietà Animation Award

plus two special prizes:
• Best Film about the reception of refugees: prize for best story for the reception of refugees
• Citizen Award: prize of the Popular Jury present at the screenings.

Entries will begin on August 1, 2023 and close on November 18, 2023.

The evaluation process is divided into three stages: preliminary evaluation, pre-selection, and final jury.
The jury is composed of experts, scholars and professionals, divided into a pre-selection jury, a finalist selection jury and a final jury.

Production completion time
After January 1, 2018

• to take part in the competition all those concerned should send all the necessary material specified in the Call for Entry
each author may submit just one (1) single work, otherwise pain of exclusion, indicating the category which he intends to enter the competition
• participants will be responsible for delivery charges of all necessary materials, which in any case will not be returned
• each participant must be sure that he has complied with every request made by the Regulation, under penalty of exclusion
• participation in the competition provides for the acceptance of the rules specified in the Call for Entry.
