FESTIVAL INTERNAZIONALE DEL CINEMA DI SALERNO

1. ORGANISATION
The Salerno International Film Festival, with its registered office at Via Portacatena, 51 – 84121 Salerno (SA), tax code 80046160653, was founded in 1946 by CINECLUB SALERNO, and the Organising Committee (a non-profit organisation) is responsible for staging the annual editions.
2. OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSES
Since its inception, the Salerno Film Festival has distinguished itself as a competitive event for Italian and international productions, thereby fostering ongoing dialogue on developments in world cinema.
The Festival attributes an important social function to cinema, and its aim is to constantly adapt its approach in line with the evolution of technology and new ‘audiovisual’ media.
The Festival fulfils its original mission of promoting and fostering film literacy, in keeping with its tradition, with a particular focus on independent works and technical and artistic innovation.
3. PROGRAMME
The 80th edition of the Salerno International Film Festival will take place in the city of Salerno from 23 to 28 November 2026 at the Cine-Teatro Augusteo.
In addition to the competitions for the various film sections, the Festival also features film programmes, retrospectives and side events (exhibitions, conferences, round-table discussions, etc.) as a contribution to raising awareness of the history of Italian and international cinema.
On the closing night of 28 November 2026, prizes will be awarded to the winning films and honours bestowed upon prominent figures in the artistic, social and cultural spheres. The Awards Ceremony may also be split into two separate evenings: one dedicated to ‘Specialised Cinema’ (documentaries, cartoons, etc.) and another dedicated to feature-length films and various other awards.
The films will be screened at the Cine-Teatro Augusteo, with the schedule to be determined at the discretion of the Festival Management, subject to the date of submission and the standard film entry procedures.
Both the side events and the awards ceremony will be streamed on the Festival’s social media channels.
The theme of the festival will be “Transitions: Cinema that Regenerates the Future”.
The 2026 edition takes place against a global backdrop marked by profound transitions: climatic, energy-related, technological, social, economic and cultural. These transformations are changing the way communities inhabit their territories, create value, communicate, consume resources, perceive the future and construct collective imaginaries. In this context, cinema cannot merely record reality; it can become a language capable of anticipating, interpreting and questioning it, while making complex processes understandable and accessible to all. The ecological transition, in particular, does not concern only the environment in a technical sense, but implies a shift in the way we conceive of the relationship between humanity, technology, the economy and nature. For this reason, the Festival proposes a cultural interpretation of sustainability: not merely a reduction in environmental impact, but a transformation of our perspective, narratives and social practices. Cinema thus becomes a driver of awareness and a catalyst for new collective responsibilities. This topic will be considered a preference for selection purposes but is not binding.

3 bis. AUDIENCE IN THE THEATRE
Audiences attending screenings during the festival will have the opportunity to cast a rating vote for each film they watch (votes are cast on a scale of 1 to 5, with an arithmetic mean calculated). These votes will determine the winner of the Audience Award.

Il Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Salerno, con sede legale in Via Portacatena, 51 – 84121 Salerno (SA), CF 80046160653, è stato fondato nel 1946 dal CINECLUB SALERNO ed il Comitato Organizzatore (senza scopo di lucro) provvede alla realizzazione delle Edizioni annuali.

2. OBIETTIVI E FINALITÀ
Fin dalla nascita il Festival di Salerno si è caratterizzato come una manifestazione competitiva per produzioni italiane ed internazionali proponendo, così, un continuo confronto sugli sviluppi della cinematografia mondiale.
Il Festival assegna al cinema un’importante funzione sociale e la sua finalità è quella di adeguare costantemente la propria linea con uno sguardo all’evoluzione delle tecnologie e dei nuovi mezzi “audiovisivi”.
Il Festival assolve al suo compito originale di divulgazione ed alfabetizzazione cinematografica, coerentemente con la sua tradizione, con attenzione particolare alle opere indipendenti e all’innovazione tecnico-artistica.

3. SVOLGIMENTO
L'80° edizione del Festival Internazionale del Cinema si Salerno si svolgerà nella Città di Salerno dal 23 al 28 novembre 2026 presso il Cine - Teatro Augusteo.
Il Festival, oltre ai Concorsi per le varie Sezioni Cinematografiche, propone anche Rassegne, Retrospettive e attività collaterali (Mostre, Convegni, Tavole Rotonde, ecc.) quale contributo alla divulgazione della Storia del Cinema Italiano ed Internazionale.
Nella serata conclusiva del 28 novembre 2026 verranno consegnati i premi ai film vincitori ed i riconoscimenti a personalità di rilievo in campo artistico, sociale e culturale. La Cerimonia di Premiazione potrà essere anche suddivisa in due specifiche serate: una serata dedicata alla “Cinematografia Specializzata” (documentari, cartoon, ecc) ed altra serata dedicata ai Film Lungometraggi e ai riconoscimenti vari.
La proiezione dei film avverrà presso il Cine-Teatro Augusteo e sarà programmata a discrezione della Direzione del Festival e comunque in ordine alla data e alla regolare modalità d’iscrizione dei film.
Sia gli eventi collaterali che la cerimonia di premiazione saranno trasmessi in streaming sui canali social del Festival.
Il tema del festival sarà “Transizioni: Il Cinema che Rigenera il Futuro”.
L’ edizione 2026 nasce in un contesto globale segnato da profonde transizioni: climatica, energetica, tecnologica, sociale, economica e culturale. Tali trasformazioni modificano il modo in cui le comunità abitano i territori, producono valore, comunicano, consumano risorse, percepiscono il futuro e costruiscono immaginari collettivi. Il cinema, in questo scenario, non può limitarsi a registrare la realtà: può diventare un linguaggio capace di anticipare, interpretare, problematizzare e rendere condivisibili processi complessi.
La transizione ecologica, in particolare, non riguarda soltanto l’ambiente in senso tecnico, ma implica un cambiamento del modo di pensare il rapporto tra uomo, tecnologia, economia e natura. Per questo il Festival propone una lettura culturale della sostenibilità: non solo riduzione dell’impatto ambientale, ma trasformazione dello sguardo, delle narrazioni e delle pratiche sociali. Il cinema diventa così un motore di consapevolezza e un catalizzatore di nuove responsabilità collettive. Il tema sarà considerato preferenziale ai fini della selezione ma non vincolante.

3 bis. PUBBLICO IN SALA
Il pubblico presente in sala durante i giorni di proiezione avrà la possibilità di esprimere un voto valutativo di ogni opera visionata (votazione espressa da 1 a 5 con calcolo di media aritmetica).
Tali votazioni determineranno l'assegnazione del Premio del Pubblico.

Films will be assessed by a dedicated panel comprising members of the Festival Committee, which will decide, at its sole discretion, on the admission of the film to the competitions.
Admitted works will be submitted to a TECHNICAL JURY, which will award, at its sole discretion, the category trophies for the following sections:

FEATURE FILMS (ITALIAN AND FOREIGN)
SHORT FILMS (ITALIAN AND FOREIGN)
DOCUMENTARIES (ITALIAN AND FOREIGN)
ANIMATED FILMS (ITALIAN AND FOREIGN)

If no film stands out above the rest, the Category Trophy for that Section may not be awarded. For each section, the Jury may award one or more prizes in recognition of the film’s particular merits.

“IGNAZIO ROSSI” GULF OF SALERNO GRAND TROPHY for the best film overall.

Prizes relating to the other sections and competitions (Videoscuola, Discovery Campania, Cinema of the Future, Ecofilm, A Glance At The World) will be awarded by the Festival Committee. Furthermore, for each section or competition, the Jury may award one or more “Festival Prizes” in recognition of the work’s particular merits. Other prizes will be awarded as follows:

AUDIENCE AWARD, awarded by the audience present in the cinema on each occasion

PRESS AWARD, awarded by a jury comprising some of the most prominent journalists
from Salerno and beyond.

The Festival Jury reserves the unquestionable right to award last-minute prizes in exceptional cases.

I film saranno valutati da un’apposita commissione formata dai componenti del Comitato del Festival che valuterà, con decisione insindacabile, l’ammissione dell’opera stessa ai Concorsi.
Le opere ammesse saranno sottoposte ad una GIURIA TECNICA che assegnerà, con giudizio insindacabile, i trofei di categoria delle sezioni:

DOCUMENTARI (ITALIANO E STRANIERO)
CARTOONS (ITALIANO E STRANIERO)

Se non c’è un film che eccelle su altri il Trofeo di Categoria per la Sezione potrà non essere assegnato.
Per ogni sezione la Giuria potrà assegnare uno o più Premi per meriti particolari dell’opera.

GRAN TROFEO GOLFO DI SALERNO “IGNAZIO ROSSI” per l’opera migliore in assoluto.

I premi relativi alle ulteriori sezioni e concorsi (Videoscuola, Discovery Campania, Cinema del Futuro, Ecofilm O il linguaggio del mare, da valutare) verranno assegnati dalla commissione del Comitato del Festival. Per ogni sezione o concorso, inoltre, la Giuria potrà assegnare uno o più "Premi Festival" per meriti particolari dell’opera.
Altri premi saranno assegnati nei seguenti modi:

PREMIO DEL PUBBLICO assegnato dal pubblico di volta in volta presente in sala
PREMIO STAMPA, assegnato da una giuria composta da alcuni tra i più importanti giornalisti salernitani e non.

La Giuria del Festival si riserva il diritto incontestabile di assegnare in casi eccezionali premi all’ultimo minuto.

4. FESTIVAL SECTIONS
The Festival’s Film Competitions are divided into various sections, namely:
1) Feature Film Section
2) Short Films Section
3) Animated Films Section
4) The “VIDESCUOLA” Competition, reserved for films made by pupils at schools of all levels.
5) “DISCOVERY CAMPANIA” Section. This section features films (both documentaries and fiction) aimed at promoting places of social, cultural and tourist interest in the Campania region
6) “A GLANCE AT THE WORLD” Section, dedicated to works (feature films, short films or documentaries) whose main themes are human rights, inclusion, gender equality, peace and social justice
7) Competition: “ECO FILM”
Feature films, short films and documentaries on environmental themes
8) DOCUMENTARY Competition
9) Competition: “CINEMA OF THE FUTURE”
Section dedicated exclusively to short films created using artificial intelligence, deep learning or emerging production tools (smartphones, drones, AI)

5. FILM DETAILS
Feature films must have a minimum running time of 60 minutes
Short films must have a maximum duration of 30 minutes
Animated films have no duration limit
Documentaries must have a maximum running time of 90 minutes
Films in foreign languages (other than English) must be subtitled in Italian or English for the purposes of assessment by the juries
Foreign-language films selected for screening at the Augusteo cinema-theatre must be SUBTITLED IN ITALIAN
Works produced before 1 January 2024 are not eligible for selection. Works previously submitted to previous editions may not be entered.

7. ENTRY PROCEDURES
Entries for the Festival’s competitions may only be submitted via the platforms indicated (FilmFreeway, Festhome).
An entry fee of €25.00 must be paid for each film to cover administrative costs. Films will not be accepted unless the entry fee has been paid.
The deadline for registration and the submission of films to the Competitions is 30 September 2026.

8. FILM SUBMISSION AND ADMISSION TO THE COMPETITIONS
Films must be uploaded ONLINE via the platforms used for registration (HD or 4K files in H.264 codec, .mov or .mp4 format, bitrate 20 Mbps), and must not exceed 10 gigabytes.
To complete the upload process, you must allow the file to remain available for download until the end of the Festival, i.e. until 28 November 2026.
Should a film be withdrawn from the competition, the entry fee will not be refunded.
An Artistic Committee, appointed by the Organisers, will assess the submitted works and select those admitted to the official cinema screenings. The Committee’s decision is final.
If selected, the contact person for the film will receive official notification from the Festival secretariat specifying the screening dates and times.

GENERAL PROVISIONS
1) In the event of an incomplete entry form, admission to the Competition is decided at the sole discretion of the Festival’s artistic direction.
2) Each participant may submit one or more films. The entry fee must be paid for each film entered
3) All films entered will form part of the Salerno International Film Festival archive and may be used for cultural, educational and other such purposes, including public screenings and/or television broadcasts. Commercial use is excluded.
4) Winners will be notified by the Festival organisers via email or telephone.
5) Participation in the competition implies unconditional acceptance of these rules.
6) These regulations are drawn up in Italian and English. In the event of any discrepancy in interpretation, the Italian version shall prevail.
8) The final programme of the event, listing the works admitted to the Competition, will be available prior to the start of the event on the website: http://www.festivaldelcinema.it/
9) For any matters not covered by these rules, the Festival Management reserves the right to make decisions at its sole discretion.
10) In the event of any disputes or controversies, the Court of Salerno shall have jurisdiction and shall rule on the basis of the Italian text of these regulations.
11) By entering the work in the Festival, the author or rights holder guarantees that they hold all the rights necessary for participation, including any musical, image and performance rights that may be involved.
12) The Organisers are exempt from any liability arising from disputes relating to the rights to the work raised by third parties.
13) The author/rights holder authorises the Organisers, free of charge, to screen the work during the Festival and at any future promotional events linked to the Festival, as well as to publish extracts from the work (max. 3 mins) for promotional purposes on TV, the web, social media and in the press.
14) Personal data provided by participants will be processed in accordance with European Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR) and subsequent amendments.
15) The data controller is the Salerno International Film Festival.
16) The data will be used exclusively for purposes related to the organisation, communication and promotion of the Festival.
17) The data subject may, at any time, exercise the rights provided for in Articles 15–22 of the GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, data portability) by writing to info@festivaldelcinema.it
18) The data will not be disclosed to third parties or made public, except where necessary for the management of the event.
19) The Organisers reserve the right to amend these regulations in the event of force majeure or to improve the running of the event. Any amendments will be promptly communicated on the official website.
20) Members of the audience present in the hall authorise any current and future use of photographic, audio and video recordings. All those interviewed consent to the use of their image for promotional purposes.

SEZIONI DEL FESTIVAL
I Concorsi Cinematografici del Festival sono suddivisi in varie sezioni e precisamente:
1) Sezione Lungometraggi
2) Sezione Cortometraggi
3) Sezione Cartoons
4) Concorso “VIDESCUOLA” riservato ai filmati realizzati dagli studenti delle Scuole di ogni ordine e grado.
5) Sezione “DISCOVERY CAMPANIA”. A questa sezione partecipano filmati (sia documentari che fiction) che hanno lo scopo di valorizzare luoghi di interesse sociale, culturale e turistico della Regione Campania
6) Sezione "UNO SGUARDO SUL MONDO" rivolta ad opere (lungometraggi, cortometraggi o documentari) che hanno come principali tematiche Diritti Umani, inclusione, parità di genere, pace e giustizia sociale
7) Concorso: “ECO FILM”
Lungometraggi, cortometraggi, documentari a tema ambientale
8) Concorso DOCUMENTARI
9) Concorso: “CINEMA DEL FUTURO”
Sezione dedicata esclusivamente a cortometraggi realizzati con intelligenza artificiale, deep learning o tramite strumenti di produzione emergenti (smartphone, droni, AI)

5. DETTAGLI DEI FILM
I Lungometraggi devono avere una durata minima di 60’
I Cortometraggi devono avere una durata massima di 30’
I Film di Animazione non hanno limiti di durata
I Documentari devono avere una durata massima di 90’
Le Opere in lingua straniera (ad eccezione dell’inglese) devono essere sottotitolate in italiano o in inglese ai fini della valutazione da parte delle giurie
Le Opere in lingua straniera selezionate per la proiezione presso il cine teatro Augusteo devono essere SOTTOTITOLATE IN ITALIANO
Non sono ammesse alla selezione le opere realizzate prima del 1 gennaio 2024. Non è possibile partecipare con opere già presentate in edizioni precedenti.

7. MODALITÀ DI ISCRIZIONE
L’iscrizione ai Concorsi del Festival potrà avvenire solo tramite le piattaforme indicate (FilmFreeway, Festhome).
Per ogni film si dovrà versare una quota di iscrizione di € 25,00 quale contributo alle spese di segreteria. Non sono ammessi i film senza il versamento della quota d’iscrizione.
Il termine ultimo per l’iscrizione e l’invio dei film ai Concorsi è fissato al 30 settembre 2026.

8. INVIO FILM ED AMMISSIONE AI CONCORSI
I film devono essere caricati ON-LINE sulle piattaforme ove è avvenuta l’iscrizione (File HD o 4k codec H264 .mov o .mp4, bitrate 20 Mbps), devono essere di massimo 10 giga.
Per completare la procedura di caricamento è necessario consentire il download del file fino alla fine del Festival ovvero fino alla data del 28 novembre 2026.
In caso di ritiro del film in concorso, non è ammessa la restituzione della quota d'iscrizione.
Una Commissione Artistica, nominata dall’Organizzazione, valuterà le opere iscritte e selezionerà quelle ammesse alla proiezione ufficiale in sala. Il giudizio della Commissione è insindacabile.
In caso di selezione, il referente dell’opera riceverà una comunicazione ufficiale da parte della segreteria del Festival con l’indicazione dei giorni e degli orari di proiezione.

9. DISPOSIZIONI GENERALI
1) In caso di richiesta incompleta d’iscrizione, l’ammissione al Concorso è decisa a insindacabile giudizio della direzione artistica del Festival.
2) Ogni partecipante può presentare una o più opere. La quota d’iscrizione deve essere versata per ogni film iscritto
3) Tutti i film iscritti faranno parte dell’archivio Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Salerno e potranno essere utilizzate per fini culturali, didattici, ecc. per proiezioni pubbliche e/o televisive. E’ escluso l’utilizzo commerciale.
4) I Premiati saranno avvisati dall’organizzazione del Festival tramite e-mail o telefono.
5) La partecipazione al concorso implica l’accettazione incondizionata del presente regolamento.
6) Il presente regolamento è redatto in italiano e in inglese. In caso di contrasto interpretativo, fa fede la versione italiana.
8) Il programma definitivo della manifestazione, contenente le opere ammesse al Concorso, potrà essere consultato prima dell’inizio della Manifestazione sul sito: http://www.festivaldelcinema.it/
9) Per quanto non previsto nel presente regolamento, la Direzione del Festival si riserva il diritto di prendere decisioni a suo insindacabile giudizio.
10) In caso di contestazioni o controversie sarà competente il Foro di Salerno che deciderà in base al testo in italiano del presente regolamento.
11) L'autore o il detentore dei diritti dell’opera, iscrivendola al Festival, garantisce la sussistenza di tutti i diritti necessari per la partecipazione, compresi quelli musicali, d'immagine e delle performance eventualmente presenti.
12) L’Organizzazione è esonerata da ogni responsabilità derivante da contestazioni relative ai diritti dell’opera da parte di terzi.
13) L’autore/detentore dei diritti autorizza l’Organizzazione, a titolo gratuito, alla proiezione dell’opera durante le giornate del Festival e in eventuali eventi promozionali futuri legati alla manifestazione, nonché alla pubblicazione di estratti dell’opera (max 3 min) a fini promozionali su TV, web, social media e stampa.
14) I dati personali forniti dai partecipanti saranno trattati in conformità al Regolamento Europeo 2016/679 (GDPR) e successive modificazioni.
15) Il Titolare del trattamento è il Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Salerno.
16) I dati saranno utilizzati esclusivamente per finalità connesse all’organizzazione, alla comunicazione e alla promozione del Festival.
17) L’interessato può, in qualsiasi momento, esercitare i diritti previsti dagli articoli 15-22 del GDPR (accesso, rettifica, cancellazione, limitazione, opposizione, portabilità dei dati) scrivendo a info@festivaldelcinema.it
18) I dati non saranno comunicati a terzi né diffusi, salvo che per adempimenti connessi alla gestione dell’evento.
19) L’Organizzazione si riserva il diritto di modificare il presente regolamento per cause di forza maggiore o per migliorare lo svolgimento della manifestazione. Ogni modifica sarà tempestivamente comunicata sul sito ufficiale.
20) Il pubblico presente in sala autorizza qualsiasi utilizzo presente e futuro di riprese fotografiche audio e video. Tutti i presenti intervistati acconsentono all'utilizzo della propria immagine a fini divulgativi.
