Dr. Eda Elif Tibet is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and visual anthropologist. She currently serves as a postdoctoral researcher at the Wyss Academy for Nature at the University of Bern as a Swiss National Science Foundation fellow.
She is the founder of KarmaMotion, a visionary film collective through which she has been producing acclaimed documentary films since 2011. Her work bridges cinema and activism, creating powerful narratives that spark dialogue and transformation.
Dr. Tibet has directed, filmed, and produced ten internationally award-winning documentary films, including *Home for Humanity* (2024), *Our Common(s) Story* (2025), *Awakening a Fairy Tale* (2024), *Ait Atta: Nomads of the High Atlas* (2020), *Ballad for Syria* (2017), *Refugee Here I Am* (2015), *Hey Goat!* (2014), *AMCHI* (2013), and *28 Days on the Moon* (2012). She is currently developing her debut fiction feature film, scheduled for release in 2027.
Her films have been screened at over 100 international film festivals and broadcast on major television networks and digital platforms, including ARTE TV, National Geographic, IZ TV, TRT, Habitat TV, CNN, NTV, BBC, and Al Jazeera.
In 2020, she founded and continues to direct the EthnoKino Film Festival, a global platform for socially engaged cinema and ethnographic storytelling. The festival has expanded across continents, with editions held in Bern, Meiringen, Mexico City, Berlin, Punta Arenas (Patagonia), Marrakech, Pune, Ladakh, Cluj-Napoca, and Cappadocia.
