Presenting the Eastern Arizona College High School Film Festival. Has been postponed
This festival is open to students currently enrolled in an Arizona High School. These students are invited to submit their best short films that are under 10 minutes long. Students may submit as many films as they want, but each film must be a separate entry. Films selected for the Eastern Arizona College High School Film Festival will be screened during the annual EAC STEAM Festival on February 24, 2024. and winners will be announced at 1:30 p.m. and subsequently contacted via email.

Films are reviewed and selected by distinguished judges Larry Chernoff and Jason Davids Scott.

Larry Chernoff began his career as a film editor in New York City. He has since helped to found and lead many post production companies around Los Angeles, including, FilmCore, Encore and RIOT. He went on to become President of 4MC, and Ascent Media Group Creative Services, including its Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, and London operations. In 2017, the HPA honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Larry brought this expertise to MTI Film, first as a Board Member in 2003 and then as CEO in 2005. Larry's vision and experience has helped keep MTI Film's flagship products, DRS™ NOVA & CORTEX on the cutting edge of post-production technology and has been the driving force behind MTI Film's fully file-based workflow.

Jason Davids Scott earned a master's with honors, and doctorate in theatre in 2009 at the University of California Santa Barbara. Prior to graduate school, Scott received a BFA in cinema studies from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, and established a career as a film publicist and development executive in both Los Angeles and New York, working for Castle Rock Entertainment and later actress/producer Helen Hunt. Currently, Dr. Scott is an Associate Professor and interim Director of the Sidney Poitier New American Film School at Arizona State University.Professor Scott is also the co-founder and chair of the Arizona Transfer Articulation Task Force for Film and Media, which oversees the film curricula at community colleges and public universities in Arizona.

The Best Film Overall will receive a trophy and a scholarship to Eastern Arizona College.

1. Eastern Arizona College High School Film Festival is open to students living in and attending school in Arizona between 9th and 12th grades at time of the film's completion.

2. Films entered into 2024 Eastern Arizona College High School Film Festival must be made in the calendar year 2023 or 2024. Films do not have to be made in conjunction with a class or teacher.

3. Arizona High School Film Festival accepts short films under10 minutes in length. Films can be of any genre (ie. narrative, documentary, experimental).

4. Short films must not contain any adult content (nudity, profanity, illegal drug use, violence, or other adult themes). Short films that do not comply with this rule will be eliminated from consideration.

5. Films must be entered via FilmFreeway by the deadline. Failure to deliver finished film for screening may result in disqualification.

6. Film must not be subject to litigation nor is threatened by any litigation. Entrant accepts all licensing responsibility for any copyrighted material contained in their film.

7. Entrant must be authorized to submit this film to the Festival and its Competition and understand that the Festival holds the right to screen said film for Festival screening and promotional purposes and to extract clips from this film for promotional purposes. This includes streaming of films online on sites of the Eastern Arizona College High School Film Festival and/or its sponsors and affiliates.

8. Awards will be given to the top films as determined by a panel of judges selected by Eastern Arizona College. Physical prizes will be mailed to winners if they are not present at the festival.

9. All decisions by judging panel and Eastern Arizona College High School Film Festival are final.

10. All films must have Title Card with the name of film and end credits.

11. There are no limits on how many people can work on the film. Please list all contributors to your film on your FilmFreeway project page. Those involved in production and post-production must be high school aged students. Actors can be of any age, but only high school aged students will be eligible for awards.
