Doc Coimbra is an international film festival that showcases the best in documentary films from political and social perspectives. Our festival is based in the historical city of Coimbra, Portugal, and showcase films from Portuguese speaking countries and international films.

We have a wide variety of films, from those that focus on immigration, political, environment, to those that highlight the stories of those who have been forgotten by history. We are committed to providing a space for meaningful conversations, and our films reflect our commitment to creating a safe and inclusive space for all.

1.1 SUBMISSIONS

Submissions to DOC .Coimbra are exclusively made via FilmFreeway, using the link https://filmfreeway.com/doccoimbra
The submissions will be completed when the Festival is granted access to the screener copy of the submitted film.
The screener copy must be exclusively provided through an online screening link.
All screener copies must come with English subtitles.
Re-submissions are not accepted.
The deadline to submit a film for all sections, is 30 September of each edition’s year. Submissions received after that date will be considered for the following year's edition.
The participants will be given notice if their films were selected or not until the beginning of november.

11. The participants are fully responsible for the content of the films they submit, namely in what concerns copyrights.

1.2. Premiere Policy:
The Festival gives priority to World and Portuguese Premieres. But all films made after
Jan. 2021 are welcomed to submit.

1.3. Language Policy:
Films are screened in the original language. If the film doesn’t have English dialogues, it must be subtitled in English. If necessary, and only with the approval of the Festival, a film can be subtitled using an electronic subtitling system (Portuguese and English subtitles). All films in the International Competition will be subtitled in Portuguese and English.

1.4. Screening Formats:
The festival is able to screen DCP, ProRes and h264 files.
