Founded in 2017, Directors’ Library is an independent platform and resource for the film, video, and creative industries.
Where the lesser-known crosses paths with the most iconic. We offer a cut of the latest, exceptional moving-image from filmmakers across the globe. Directors’ Library has become the go-to for cinematic inspiration, references, and filmmakers’ techniques.
We spotlight daily videos from both emerging and recognised names within the industry, present topical, curated collections from leading directors, and go behind-the-scenes through Q&A’s and supporting materials.
Release Details (130K+ reach)
— Added to our Library — Your project will be added to our website archive and be featured across both the homepage and under the relevant category pages. This includes the related and suggested boxes throughout the site. We occasionally request a short Q&A with the director.
— Posted to our Socials — A link to your project on Directors’ Library will be posted across select social handles. These may include INSTAGRAM, TWITTER & FACEBOOK. Occasionally, stills may not be strong enough for Instagram, in these instances, we’ll consider clips and trailers where copyright permits, or otherwise skip the platform entirely as it can affect engagement on future posts.
— Mentioned in our Newsletter — Directors’ Library publishes a regular newsletter and we may include your project in one of these bulletins.
— Added to our Vimeo — If you provide us with a Vimeo link, we will add your video to our VIMEO channel providing that privacy settings allow. If the filmmaker/s provide us with clips, extracts, or trailers, we may upload these to our VIMEO profile.
We only accept NARRATIVE FICTION and DOCUMENTARY SHORT FILM submissions via FilmFreeway. The submission fee covers a single submission only.
We do not accept CAMPAIGNS, MUSIC VIDEOS, CREATIVE SHORTS, DANCE SHORTS, or EXPERIMENTAL SHORT FILMS via FilmFreeway — please visit DIRECTORS' LIBRARY to see our yearly Membership Options for these media types.

— Please understand that we only share a small selection of the videos we receive. There is no guarantee that your work will be shared by Directors’ Library.
— We will notify you on the status of your submission, however, at this time we are unable to offer feedback.
— We encourage you to share work with us prior to its release, however, we do not accept works-in-progress, trailers, or projects with a runtime that exceeds 40 minutes in length.
— If your film is already publicly viewable online, we only consider work that has been released within the past two months, pay-to-view platforms and online password-protected festivals do not count towards this date.
