In order to truly read a being it is imperative to know every roadblock or milestone that shaped them,i personally am grateful for each of mine
I do have to figure out a way to put it all here,but here's to trying my best!let's start from the VERY beginning,shall we?
Born in kolkata,india on june 27th,1998 to a professional footballer turned banker(baba/father) & a professional singer turned journalist turned philanthropist(mummy/mother)at 4,i started training under renowned bharatnatyam dancer thankumani kutty(kalamandalam) & started accompanying mummy on professional tours as a performer across the globe,sometimes i'd sing,sometimes enact & sometimes dance & other times just sit in the audience in awe of the other performers,these early experiences made me intensely fall in love with performing,the fact that through these performances not only was i able to feel a sense of peace that i quite didn't understand the intensity of until later years but i was also able to create unique experiences for the audiences which gave me a distinct state of satisfaction that i still seek out of every creation i build or witness.
at 6,i added 4 more dance forms to my extensive training regime,namely contemporary,jazz,kathak & hip-hop,alongside that my training continued as an actor & singer,i regularly started writing,directing,choreographing & producing shows,both my own or otherwise,i performed them at independent public venues & received accolades,i started participating in musicals & plays on Inter school levels too.
at 7,i visited my 1st shooting set for my mother's music video,i dozed off on the 1st day,on the 2nd i wanted to help!by the 3rd & final day my curiosity knew no bounds,then on i started developing my filmmaking skills by assisting senior filmmakers,i was fascinated yet i couldn't decide what amazed me more,the thought that someone could create their own desired reality however they like by just putting it on paper & create a whole new world or the fact that someone just manifested the imaginary world into life!
I continued my endeavours as a performer,At 9,i rendered my voice as a child voice over artist for a bengali children's album called "amar pushir biye",At 14,i co-founded a dance academy for underprivileged kids & volunteered as a dance & acting coach for kids at a local orphanage simultaneously.
at 16,i debuted as a model & had the oppurtunity of being a part of prestigious campaigns,calendars,photoshoots & fashion weeks including the kyron kochi international fashion week.
Around the same time,i developed a strong interest in fashion,colors & shapes while the other art forms took a back seat,i got into styling & designing my own outfits,eventually i professionally collaborated with a leading national denim brand "SPYKAR" as a fashion communication expert & was invited to be a full time employee,all during 2nd year of college.
now that i look back,i consider it a detour which in fact redirected me to what i believe is my true purpose in a major way!
i declined the offer & continued pursuing a career as an actor/performer/creator with projects under reputed productions.
On june 2020,i launched a podcast named "MAVERICK SHRINK'S",where i address diverse topics in an engaging manner,as an english literature graduate i inevitably am an avid reader & an occasional painter but i truly realised my knack for writing while going through a grave personal trauma that gave me perspective & i reinvented myself through the therapeutic world of storytelling!i went back to writing poems,short stories & scripts once again some of which got made into films,blogs etc.
during this period,i realized the lack of representation,inclusive stories & ethical platforms.honestly,i believe,in this day & age as artists/creators,one can either be helpless victims,waiting for oppurtunities that they are too unpopular,too popular,too fat,too dark,too light,too gay,too straight,TOO REAL for or be a pioneer,a trailblazer and pave the way for their own legacy,create a platform that not only serves oneself but also the creative community as a whole without having to compromise on their authentic truth in any manner,this is the thought that led me to build my own film production d.a.dpresents,it's in the infant stage at this point but am certain our resolute optimism,conviction,faith & courage will act as the perfect prepping ground for it to soar the highest,we have multiple amazing projects already underway that we are excited to share with the world one by one,besides d.a.dpresents we are about to launch a theatre society ANTARJATRA MANDALI,that focuses on modernising indian regional theatre forms & making it relevant for today's audience & 40% of our total revenue goes to our sister organisation CHAITANYA MANDALI which strives for a more sustainable & compassionate earth through advocacy & activism.
