We are selecting 8 filmmakers to take part in the Cici Film Festival 2019 (more recently known as “CFF19”), an extemporary short film competition.
The purpose of the competition is to make 8 short films, each with a maximum duration of 15 minutes.
A) ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Filmmakers of all nationalities who are between the ages of 18 and 35 on submission of application date are eligible for selection.
B) REGISTRATION FOR THE COMPETITION

C) SELECTION CRITERIA
• Quality and feasibility of implementation of the unpublished synopsis.
• Quality of the short film presented.
The selection will be carried out by the commission composed of members of the CFF19 organization together with experts from the film industry.
In no way may the members of the examining board make full or partial use of the synopsis of the participants who will not be selected at CFF19.
D) TROUPE
The selected filmmaker can create him/her own troupe bringing with him/her 2 collaborators (such as D.O.P., sound engineers, editors, scriptwriters, etc.).
It will be the responsibility of the troupe to have all the technical equipment necessary to carry out their work.
E) HOSPITALITY
The organization will provide accommodation for the 8 crews (1 director + 2 collaborators) participating in the CFF19 in a residence located in Castellammare del Golfo from 07.09.2019 to 14.09.2019 with scheduled departure on 15.09.2019 at 12.00 p.m.
Hospitality includes overnight stay only.
The movement on site, including the arrival and departure journey from the competition venues are the responsibility of the participants.
Participants must arrive in Castellammare del Golfo no later than 6.00 pm on 07.09.2019 to carry out check-in operations.
F) ACTORS, EXTRAS, CAST AND SOUNDTRACKS
On the evening of 07.09.2019 at 9.00 pm, each filmmaker will reveal the synopsis to be realized to actors, extras, musicians, workers and all those who want to contribute to the realization of their cinematographic project.
The actors and extras selected by the directors will be able to participate in only one short film in the competition.
The soundtracks must be free of rights or, if covered by copyright, the file must have the authorization for use by the author or the related license.
It is up to each filmmaker to make sure these rules are respected.
In the event of a legal dispute, the organization is exempt from any liability.
G) DURATION AND ORGANISATION OF ACTIVITIES
• Saturday 07.09.2019: ARRIVAL OF TROUPES AND PRESENTATION OF SELECTED STORIES
• Sunday 08.09.2019: START OF FILMING
• Friday 13.09.2019, 12.00 P.M. (MIDDAY), HANDING IN of CFF19 SHORT FILM
Short films must be delivered in mp4 format, codec h.264, 25p, 1920x1080, on a USB pen drive, at a location specified by the organization.
H) SCREENING AND AWARDS
The short films in the competition will be screened following the alphabetical order of the surnames of the filmmakers at the Arena delle Rose in Castellammare del Golfo.
On Friday 13.09.2019, at 9.00 pm, the short films in the competition will be screened.
The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, 14. 09. 2019, at 9.00 p.m.
I) JURY
The decision of the jury, which will consist of directors, journalists and experts in the film industry, will be final and cannot be appealed.
J) PRIZES
• € 500,00 (565 USD) for the best film selected by the jury
• € 500,00 (565 USD) for the best film selected by the audience at the screening.
• € 500,00 (565 USD) for the best director selected by the jury
• € 500,00 (565 USD) for the best screenplay selected by the jury
Special prizes may be assigned at the discretion of the jury.
K) COPYRIGHT
The short films made within CFF19 are the property of the filmmaker and co-produced by C.I.C.I.
C.I.C.I. will be able to use the short films for commercial and non-commercial purposes, and for the promotion and distribution of the Festival.
L) TITLES AND GRAPHICS
All the short films made at CFF19 must have the first video screen as that provided by the organizers and after the festival the screen provided, must be maintained.
M) DISTRIBUTION OF SHORT FILMS FOLLOWING CFF19
• The filmmaker and the organizers of the festival will jointly agree on the best distribution strategy (online and offline) of the short films produced.
• They are also committed to conveying the short films for main national and international festivals and distribution circuits.
• Other options of disclosure will be discussed at the end of CFF19.
N) PRIVACY
Participants are informed that personal data contained in the applications for participation in this selection will be collected and processed by the C.I.C.I. to the sole purpose of the completion of the selection itself and in compliance with the obligations of security and confidentiality pursuant to the GDPR EU 2016/679.
