We know how hard it is for an independent filmmaker to produce and distribute their works.

The mission is to celebrate the independent filmmakers by providing
a platform for short films and documentaries

The festival is intended to provide audiences and experts insight into recent short films and documentaries to stimulating the production of the film in Egypt enhance cooperation among Filmmakers in production

Cairo Shorts only Brings the best films focusing on everything new, brave, daring and challenging that is out of the mainstream

Awards & Prizes


All films will be screened in a live theatrical venue with Q&A

On the sidelines of the festival there will be special seminars and workshops

Festival services and film screening will continue throughout the year to help independent filmmakers produce and distribute their films

Rules & Terms

1- The Festival only accepts Short Films, Documentaries, and Student Films from 4 to 30 min.

2- The Festival only accepts online registrations and submissions to be assessed. Films must have an English subtitles

4- We are only accepting films that have been produced during and after January 2025 at this time

5- By submitting a film to The Festival, the submitter agrees that the film will be screened in a live theatrical venue during the festival

6- All film entries selected for the festival grant Cairo Shorts (CiSff) the rights to use provided stills, footage, clips, trailers, and information from the film for promotion​

7- All films submitted must be free from any legal disputes and the filmmaker must have cleared all rights for music and exhibition

8- The Festival will never share or stream your Film (s) online without your permission

9-Cairo Shorts Film Festival reserves the right to change any information contained in this document(including Festival dates, venues, events, awards and eligibility requirements)without further notice

10- Filmmakers will be notified no later than November 10, 2026 of their submission status
