The Best Damn Film Awards is a selective film festival and screenplay competition, culminating in a year-end Awards Presentation celebrating the very best in independent storytelling.

BDFA is big, bold, and ready to recognize the best, the bizarre, and the boundary-pushing voices in indie cinema and screenplays. We’re not looking for safe. We’re looking for brilliant, raw, and unapologetically original. Whether you're submitting a finished film or an unproduced screenplay, BDFA is your stage.

We believe great stories begin with great ideas. That's why we celebrate not only the filmmakers bringing stories to life on screen, but also the writers creating unforgettable worlds, characters, and ideas on the page. From shorts and features to experimental films, pilots, and screenplays, we're looking for storytellers willing to take risks and create something memorable.

Unlike many festivals, every submission receives genuine consideration from the panel. We celebrate the writers, directors, cast, crew, visionaries, risk-takers, weirdos, and dreamers who create work that deserves to be seen. If your project has something to say, we want to hear it.

ABOUT THE CONTEST:

Each film and screenplay will be reviewed by the panel and recognized based on its strongest elements. This is a selective festival. If your project is SELECTED, you can be proud knowing it stood out among a competitive field and earned its place in the festival.

Award-winning films will be showcased at our year-end festival event held in Newnan, Georgia.

NOTABLES:

Every SELECTED film and screenplay receives a custom festival quote that may be used for posters, websites, social media, and promotional materials.

All submissions are eligible for award consideration. In addition to major festival awards, projects may be recognized for outstanding achievements in writing, directing, acting, technical craft, character development, dialogue, storytelling, originality, and many other categories.

At BDFA, we don't just recognize completed projects — we celebrate the storytellers behind them.
