ARACNEA FILM AND BOOK FESTIVAL is an opportunity to meet and learn about quality cinema, which broadens its action perspective to also include the way in which Literature narrates Cinema. In fact, alongside the part of the competition dedicated to short films from Italy and the world, there is a part of the competition dedicated to Film Non-Fiction, with the addition of other non-competitive collateral activities.
The objective is to establish in the territory a new reality linked to the thousand languages of cinema "to be seen" and cinema "to be read".
The Festival is managed by the ARACNEA Cultural Association - APS CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC CENTRE, which will avail itself of the precious support of production companies such as FILM SYNOPSIS, organisations, bodies, associations and sector experts.
The Festival has an Artistic Direction, found in the persons of Pietro Manigrasso (Producer of FILM SYNOPSIS and vice-president of the Association) and Domenico Palattella (SNCCI Film Critic); and an Organizational Management found in the person of the president of the Association Maria Rosaria Nardulli.
The Festival will see the support of other professionals, with the collaboration of the municipality of Castellaneta, institutions and partnerships.
ARACNEA FILM AND BOOK FESTIVAL has the high patronage of the SNCCI (National Union of Italian Film Critics).

The Festival program is divided into competition sections and collateral sections.
- SHORT FILMS COMPETITION
Section dedicated to small audio-visual products lasting up to 20 minutes (including titles), coming from all over the world.
The aforementioned section will be divided into two competitive categories:
ITALIAN COURTS and INTERNATIONAL COURTS.
Judging, on the basis of a pre-selection carried out by experts in the sector, will be a local Popular Jury, open to all those who want to take part, in particular the younger classes. It will be the work of the organizational and artistic managements to create small training meetings in order to educate the Popular Jury on the criteria to follow to evaluate the cinematographic products. Joining the Popular Jury is free and will take place by sending your credentials (delivery address, personal data, name and surname) to the following email: aracneafilmandbookfestival@gmail.com.
To correctly upload the film file, the product itself must be present on Vimeo or similar platforms, even in private mode, after indicating any password; or upload it to the portals mentioned above.
Alternatively, it is possible to send the material on DVD or USB stick to the following address: FILM SYNOPSIS - VIA SAN FRANCESCO 5, 74011 CASTELLANETA (TA); or send it via “WeTransfer” to the email address aracneafilmandbookfestival@gmail.com.
The products must be sent in the original language.
For international works it is essential that they have subtitles in Italian or alternatively in English. For international works without subtitles it is necessary to send the Dialog List.
Registrations for the Festival must be received no later than 28 February 2026.
By 1 April, 2026, the selections of the films admitted to the final phase will be communicated. It will then be the responsibility of the festival secretariat to communicate these results to the selected people.
The products competing in the Festival, if also sent on DVD, will be preserved by the Festival itself in its audiovisual archive for exclusively private use and are part of its artistic heritage. Together with the sending of the audio-visual product, where possible, we require the sending of posters and/or professional paper materials.
The ARACNEA - CENTRO CULTURALE ED ARTISTICO APS Association, creator and producer of the "Festival Aracnea Film & Book Festival", reserves the right to use the archived material for promotional purposes, without profit. With the request for participation, the author and/or those having any right to the work authorize its use for festival screenings, for study purposes and for exhibitions, for training initiatives at schools, for the sole purpose of promoting the demonstration.
- PUBLISHED CINEMATOGRAPHIC NON-FIRMING COMPETITION
Film non-fiction works published in Italian, regularly published between 2020 and 2025, will be admitted to the competition. A Qualified Jury of experts will select the three finalist works, which will be presented and awarded during the Festival evenings. Statuettes and/or plaques will symbolize the victory of the competition itself.
To enter the works in competition it is necessary:
- which were published no earlier than 01/01/2020;
- pay a registration fee of 8.00 euros, necessary for secretarial expenses, made out to ARACNEA, CENTRO CULTURALE ED ARTISTICO-APS, IBAN: IT43K0306909606100000175954, reason: REGISTRATION (BOOK TITLE) IN COMPETITION;
-send an email to aracneafilmandbookfestival@gmail.com, with the subject: REGISTRATION (BOOK TITLE) IN COMPETITION, attaching the synopsis of the book and a short biography of the author;
-send a copy of the book to the following address FILM SYNOPSIS - VIA SAN FRANCESCO 5, 74011 CASTELLANETA (TA).
Registrations for the Festival must be received no later than 28 February 2026.
The selections of the winning books will be communicated by December 1 April 2026.
It will then be the responsibility of the festival secretariat to communicate these results to the selected people.
The literary works competing in the Festival will be preserved by the Festival itself in its library archive for exclusively private use and are part of its artistic heritage.
The Festival will not end in just the three days of its creation, but will be active all year round, through the creation of collateral, previous and subsequent activities.
- GUSTO CINEMA FILM REVIEW, which will talk about gastronomy through cinema, taking place on an annual basis.
- CINEMA AND STREET ART: Street-Art as an art form linked to the magic of cinema, to be created in the historic center of Castellaneta.
- “CASTELLANETA ARTISTICA” CONTEST. The Contest is aimed at all schools of all levels in Castellaneta and the surrounding area, who want to immortalize the same town, in a particular moment, highlighting its traditional, cultural and landscape aspects. All artistic variations will be allowed, from painting, to photography, to writing, up to the creation of short videos or short films lasting no more than 10 minutes. The originality of the product will be positively evaluated.
-ORGANIZATION OF MATINEES IN SCHOOLS, focusing on the links between cinema and the other arts and on audio-visual training and education.
-CINEMA FOR THE BLIND, in possible collaboration with UIC-TARANTO.
The three evenings of the Festival will be held at the ARACNEA HUB in Castellaneta, and entry will be permitted while seats last.
Press accreditations will be provided for all journalists who wish to request them. Accreditation requests must be received no later than December 1, 2025 by email to aracneafilmandbookfestival@gmail.com.
The aforementioned applications must be submitted on headed paper and signed by the management of the newspaper concerned.

ARACNEA FILM AND BOOK FESTIVAL è un’occasione d’incontro e conoscenza di cinematografie di qualità, che amplia il suo sguardo d’azione anche al modo con il quale la Letteratura racconta il Cinema. Infatti, accanto alla parte concorsuale dedicata a corti cinematografici provenienti dall’Italia e dal mondo, è prevista una parte concorsuale dedicata alla Saggistica Cinematografica, con l’aggiunta di altre attività collaterali non concorsuali.
L’obiettivo è quello di affermare sul territorio, una nuova realtà legata ai mille linguaggi del cinema “da vedere” e del cinema “da leggere”.
Il Festival è gestito dall’ Associazione Culturale ARACNEA - CENTRO CULTURALE ED ARTISTICO APS, che si avvarrà del prezioso supporto di case di produzione come la SINOSSI FILM, organizzazioni, enti, associazioni, ed esperti del settore.
Il Festival ha una Direzione Artistica, riscontrabile nelle persone di Pietro Manigrasso (Produttore di SINOSSI FILM e vice-presidente dell’Associazione) e Domenico Palattella (Critico Cinematografico SNCCI); e una Direzione Organizzativa riscontrabile nella persona della presidente dell’Associazione Maria Rosaria Nardulli.
Il Festival vedrà il supporto di altri professionisti, con la collaborazione del comune di Castellaneta, di Enti e di partnership.
ARACNEA FILM AND BOOK FESTIVAL ha l’alto patrocinio dell’SNCCI (Sindacato Nazionale Critici Cinematografici Italiani).

Il programma del Festival si suddivide in Sezioni concorsuali e Sezioni collaterali.
- CONCORSO CORTOMETRAGGI
Sezione dedicata a piccoli prodotti audio-visivi della durata massima di 20 minuti (titoli compresi), provenienti da tutto il mondo.
La suddetta sezione sarà divisa in due categorie competitive:
CORTI ITALIANI e CORTI INTERNAZIONALI.
A giudicare, sulla base di una pre- selezione compiuta da esperti del settore, sarà una Giuria Popolare del luogo, aperta a tutti coloro che vorranno farne parte, in particolare alle classi più giovani. Sarà opera delle Direzioni organizzative ed artistiche, creare dei piccoli incontri formativi, al fine di erudire la Giuria Popolare sui criteri da seguire per valutare i prodotti cinematografici. L’adesione a far parte della Giuria Popolare è gratuita e avverrà tramite invio delle proprie credenziali (indirizzo di recapito, dati anagrafici, nome e cognome) alla seguente mail: aracneafilmandbookfestival@gmail.com .
Per caricare correttamente il file del film, è necessario che il prodotto stesso sia presente su Vimeo o piattaforme similari, anche in modalità riservata, previa indicazione dell’eventuale password; oppure caricarlo sui portali sopra citati.
In alternativa è possibile inviare il materiale in dvd o chiavetta usb al seguente indirizzo: SINOSSI FILM - VIA SAN FRANCESCO 5, 74011 CASTELLANETA (TA); o inviarlo tramite “WeTransfer” all’indirizzo mail aracneafilmandbookfestival@gmail.com .
I prodotti vanno inviati in lingua originale.
Per le opere internazionali è indispensabile che siano provviste di sottotitoli in italiano o in alternativa in inglese. Per le opere internazionali sprovviste dei sottotitoli è necessario inviare la Dialog List.
Le iscrizioni al Festival dovranno pervenire entro e non oltre il 28 Febbraio 2026.
Entro il 1 Aprile 2026, verranno comunicate le selezioni dei film ammessi alla fase finale. Sarà poi compito della segreteria del festival comunicare tali risultati ai selezionati.
I prodotti in concorso al Festival, qualora anche inviati in dvd, saranno conservati dal Festival stesso nel proprio archivio audiovisivo ad uso esclusivamente privato e fanno parte del patrimonio artistico dello stesso. Si richiede, insieme all’invio del prodotto audio-visivo, ove possibile, l’invio di locandine e/o materiali cartacei professionali.
L’Associazione ARACNEA - CENTRO CULTURALE ED ARTISTICO APS, ideatrice e produttrice del “Festival Aracnea Film & Book Festival”, si riserva il diritto di utilizzare il materiale archiviato a scopo promozionale, senza fini di lucro. Con la richiesta di partecipazione l’autore e/o gli aventi qualsiasi diritto sull’opera ne autorizzano l’uso per le proiezioni del festival, per scopi di studio e per rassegne, per iniziative di formazione presso istituti scolastici, al solo scopo di promuovere la manifestazione.
- CONCORSO SAGGISTICA CINEMATOGRAFICA EDITA
Saranno ammesse in concorso opere di Saggistica Cinematografica Edita in lingua italiana, regolarmente pubblicate tra il 2020 e il 2025. Una Giuria Qualificata di esperti, selezioneà le tre opere finaliste, che saranno presentate e premiate durante le serate del Festival. Statuette e/o targhette simboleggeranno la vittoria stessa del concorso.
Per iscrivere le opere in concorso è necessario:
- che siano state pubblicate in data non antecedente l’01/01/2020;
- versare una quota di iscrizione di 8.00 euro, necessarie per le spese di segreteria, intestato ad ARACNEA, CENTRO CULTURALE ED ARTISTICO-APS, IBAN: IT43K0306909606100000175954, causale: ISCRIZIONE (TITOLO LIBRO) IN CONCORSO;
-inviare una mail a aracneafilmandbookfestival@gmail.com, con oggetto: ISCRIZIONE (TITOLO LIBRO) IN CONCORSO, allegando la sinossi del libro e una breve biografia dell’autore;
-inviare una copia del libro al seguente indirizzo SINOSSI FILM - VIA SAN FRANCESCO 5, 74011 CASTELLANETA (TA).
Le iscrizioni al Festival dovranno pervenire entro e non oltre il 28 Febbraio 2026.
Entro il 01 Aprile 2026, verranno comunicate le selezioni dei libri vincitori.
Sarà poi compito della segreteria del festival comunicare tali risultati ai selezionati.
Le opere letterarie in concorso al Festival, saranno conservate dal Festival stesso nel proprio archivio bibliotecario ad uso esclusivamente privato e fanno parte del patrimonio artistico dello stesso.
Il Festival non si esaurirà nei soli tre giorni di realizzazione dello stesso, ma sarà attivo tutto l’anno, attraverso la realizzazione di attività collaterali, precedenti e successive.
- RASSEGNA CINEMATOGRAFICA GUSTO CINEMA, che racconterà la gastronomia attraverso il cinema, svolgendosi con cadenza annuale.
- CINEMA E STREET ART: la Street-Art come forma d’arte legata alla magia del cinema, da realizzarsi nel centro storico di Castellaneta.
- CONTEST “CASTELLANETA ARTISTICA”. Il Contest è rivolto a tutte le scuole di ogni ordine e grado di Castellaneta e dintorni, che vogliano immortalare la stessa cittadina, in un momento particolare, evidenziandone i suoi aspetti tradizionali, culturali e paesaggistici. Saranno ammesse tutte le variazioni artistiche, dalla pittura, alla fotografia, alla scrittura, fino alla realizzazioni di brevi video o brevi corti della durata non superiore ai 10 minuti. Sarà valutata positivamente l’originalità del prodotto.
-ORGANIZZAZIONE DI MATINEE NELLE SCUOLE, incentrati sui legami del Cinema con le altre arti e sulla formazione ed educazione audio-visiva.
-CINEMA PER NON VEDENTI, in eventuale collaborazione con l’UIC-TARANTO.
Le tre serate del Festival, si terranno presso l’ARACNEA HUB di Castellaneta, e l’ingresso sarà consentito fino ad esaurimento posti a sedere.
Saranno previsti accrediti stampa per tutti i giornalisti che ne vorranno fare richiesta. Le domande di accredito devono pervenire entro e non oltre il 1 Aprile 2026 alla mail aracneafilmandbookfestival@gmail.com.
Le suddette domande devono essere presentate su carta intestata e firmata dalla Direzione della testata interessata.
