AAFF is a fresh, international film festival based in Rome. We’re all about promoting filmmakers and screenwriters who want their work seen globally.

TRADITION AND INNOVATION: ALL IN ONE PLACE
AAFF is a monthly festival created to discover new talent. All monthly winners will compete in the final event in a real cinema theater—a great opportunity to gain visibility and connect with the audience. Here, authors from all over the world have the chance to present their work, meet fellow artists and share new ideas.

THE MISSION
Altea Academy, which has been working in the beauty field for over 20 years, is a highly regarded school recognized by the Lazio Region and today represents a point of reference for hands-on training. Here, the care of beauty is understood as a discipline, culture, and sensitivity.
Over time, this path has evolved to embrace the language of cinema as well, expanding its focus from external beauty to a more narrative and visual dimension; from technical skills to image creation, from makeup and hairstyling to cinematic characterization, and ultimately to the ability to tell stories through faces, bodies, and light.
In this educational environment, aesthetics and cinema come together, offering students concrete tools to express creativity, identity, and artistic vision.

WE SEND NOTIFICATIONS & LAURELS AND CERTIFICATES EVERY MONTH

ALL PARTICIPATING SUBMISSIONS GET 'OFFICIAL SELECTION' LAURELS.

Each month, our jury will carefully select the filmmakers and their projects that, in the committee’s judgment, stand out as the most interesting. Honorable mentions will be awarded in various “Main Categories.” In addition, each submission may include an unlimited number of “Additional Subcategories.”

Films that receive mentions will be sent our Official Certificate via email, ready for printing, sharing on social media, and promotion on websites.

Mentioned films will also be promoted across our social channels with posters, film stills, and dedicated promotional content highlighting the filmmakers and producers.

Furthermore, selected films will be automatically entered into the “Best of the Year” selection in their respective categories. Please note that only the finalists in these categories will have their works screened at the special in-person awards ceremony, which will take place in Rome in December. Annual winners will be interviewed, and the interview will be published on our website.

Rules & Terms

PLEASE READ THE RULES CAREFULLY:

- Short films of all genres with a maximum length of 30 minutes are accepted.
- Feature films of all genres with a maximum length of 130 minutes are accepted.
- Completion date after January 2024.
- All works must be accompanied by English subtitles.
- No premiere status is required.
- The AAFF may use trailers/teasers/posters or BTS for promotional purposes (but not release the complete film in any form or under any circumstances).
- Entry fees are non-refundable.
- All rights to the short film are owned by the author.
- Authors may not withdraw their work after the official selection.
- All decisions of the jury are final.

By submitting your film to AAFF, you authorise the exhibition of your work at the festival and accept full legal responsibility for the intellectual property of the film. The undersigned will indemnify and hold harmless the AAFF from any claims, liabilities, losses, damages and expenses that may be incurred as a result of any claims regarding copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening and loss or damage to the videos entered.
