BLACKAIFEST 2026 (Theme: Here and Now)

BLACKAIFEST is an academy, and we maintain a highly professional outlook characterized by class and poise, ensuring AI Filmmakers are held in high esteem.

The International AI Film Academy Festival & Awards (BLACKAIFEST) is much more than merely a festival, and our glamorous Trophy is one of the best you'll ever receive!
All submitters, ranging from honourable mention recipients to nominees and winners, receive rewards that include certificates, medals, plaques, and our exclusive BlackAIfest academy awards (the BLAIs).

The "AI Film Academy Awards" is an established and groundbreaking event designed to demonstrate how artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing creative storytelling and driving progress in the global creative industry, with a particular focus on niche representation, inclusiveness, and keeping the tool (AI) as a puppet in the hands of the puppeteers—us, humans!

Open to global submissions, this annual International AI Academy Awards event, curated by the producer of the renowned Realtime International Film Festival (RTF), honours the creativity and innovation of human talent in crafting new forms of storytelling with AI. The festival integrates both physical and virtual elements to promote accessibility and encourage global involvement. The Red Carpet Awards however, must be attended in-person. London will act as the primary host for the second edition, offering cutting-edge facilities for screenings, exhibitions, workshops, panel discussions, and award ceremonies.

The first edition, organized by Mighty Jot and RTF, themed "RAVEN," occurred twice in 2025. On June 21, 2025, a curated edition was held in Worcester as part of the Neo-Nolly Fest, showcasing submissions received before the late or extended deadlines. After this inaugural event, the main edition took place in Kent from October 11 to 12, coinciding with the Black History Month celebrations. The films featured in the June showcase were also be screened in October, during which winners in various categories received certificates, awards and trophies. At the closing event on October 19, 2025, Councillor  Karen Watson, the Mayor of Swale, Kent, attended the official launch of the Kent campus of our AI Film Academy following an exciting workshop with registered learners.

Regarding awards, there are 21 categories dedicated to honouring outstanding AI creations across diverse mediums. From AI-crafted live-action short films to award-winning AI-generated comic books, there is a wide range of options to explore. The festival also highlights the harmony between human creativity and machine innovation, featuring categories that honour the significant integration of AI in live-action shorts, feature films, documentaries, commercials, and animated productions.

Seize this chance to experience the remarkable rise of AI in global storytelling. Submit your entries today and be part of an unforgettable experience in the United Kingdom come August 1st and 2nd, 2026!

Please note that our AI Academy Award ceremonies are strictly black-tie events. Cultural attire, such as hijabs, is allowed but must adhere to the universal theme of Black with a touch of White or grey.
