Ziyu Gao is a New York-based director and producer. Originally from Singapore, she began her film career as an actor, working on numerous projects ranging from student films to commercials, and eventually discovered her true passion behind the camera.
Ziyu has directed more than six short films and received awards from festivals around the world. She is a student at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
This year, Ziyu wrote, directed, and produced her third short film, Ways of Talking, which was a semi-finalist at the Los Angeles Film Awards (LAFA) and went on to win multiple awards.
As a female filmmaker of color, Ziyu aims to create films that reflect her own experiences and vision while collaborating with people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
