Yale Fried was born to a family of ten in Buffalo, New York. Long before he ever wanted to be a filmmaker, Yale wanted to be a Rabbi. After all, Rabbis told stories. He thought he might like to do that.
Yale’s dream of becoming a Rabbi never did come to fruition, but while studying film at Emerson College, he worked part time as a Hebrew School teacher at a local Synagogue where he tutored Bar Mitzvah students. Those experiences led to Unraveled, a fictional story of the very real fear of dropping the Torah.
Yale now lives in Pennsylvania with his wife, whom he met while teaching Hebrew School, and his son. He works as a producer and editor for companies like Crooked Media, Sequoia Capital, Lionsgate, American Idol, GQ, Vanity Fair, and Google.
