APPLICATIONS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE NEW FILM FESTIVAL WILL CONTINUE UNTIL September 10, 2024

The World Through Silence Film Festival is held to raise public awareness of the problems faced by many Deaf and Hard of Hearing members of our society, people with disabilities, with the aim of showing films in sign language and with subtitles on the big screen.
And also, with the help of cinematography, to help most of the people around us to see and discover their rich creative potential and the diversity of their lives.

The festival also aims to provide people with hearing disabilities with good examples and opportunities for an active life.

Russian and foreign feature films, documentaries, children's films and social advertising videos that touch on the problems of deaf people, as well as works filmed by people with disabilities and with their direct participation, are invited to participate in the film festival.
The World Through Silence Film Festival is an annual event focusing on international independent cinema. Its purpose is to show outstanding independent films, films involved disability people and also in ASL , BSL RSL and other World Sign Language for recognize and support the new Deaf and Hearing Impaired filmmakers and to enhance awareness and understanding of cinematography as art among diverse audiences.
Our latest festival was a great success, there were great films, interesting communication and lots of press coverage! It was really great celebration and we are looking forward to our next edition!
We guarantee that film professionals will view all submitted films. We encourage filmmakers who created their films with a low or high budget to enter their films to The World Through Silence.
We genuinely are Independent!

Убедительная просьба обратить внимание на теметику данного кинофетиваля.
В конкурсную прогрвмму "фестиваля Мир сквозь тишину" принимаються заявки только на те фильмы, которые имееют прямое или косвенное отношение к миру неслышащих людей, или кино работы созданные творческим коллективом, в который входят люди с ограниченными возможностями по слуху.
А также все фильмы на любом Жестовом языке Мира с английскими или русскими субтитрами.

Кинофестиваль «Мир сквозь тишину» проводится с целью привлечь внимание общественности к проблемам, с которыми сталкиваются многие глухие и слабослышащие члены нашего общества, люди с ограниченными возможностями, с целью показа на большом экране фильмов на жестовом языке и с субтитрами.
А также, с помощью средств кинематографа помочь большинству окружающих из нас людей увидеть и раскрыть их богатый творческий потенциал и разнообразие их жизни .
Фестиваль также направлен на то, чтобы показать людям с ограниченными возможностями по слуху наглядные примеры и возможности для активной жизни.
К участию в кинофестивале приглашаются российские и зарубежные художественные, документальные, детские фильмы и видеоролики социальной рекламы, затрагивающие проблемы неслышащих людей, а также работы, снятые людьми с ограниченными возможностями и с их непосредственным участием.

All winners are getting trophies and certificates of the festival.
All trophies are sending by post to those of the winners who can not be present in person.
Certificates and laurels are sending by e-mail.
Directors, producers, creators and main characters of the nominated films, at the choice of the organizing committee, will be invited to participate in the awards ceremony in Moscow.

Rules & Terms

Films not in Russian are accepted with English subtitles and cut sheets. The presence of English subtitles and editing sheets is desirable for all video materials, regardless of the original language, since the festival films will be subtitled for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.
Selected short films up to 40 minutes.
Feature length films longer than 40 minutes.
Free entry for all films

All films proposed for the Contest should have English subtitles.
If your film has no English subtitles yet you still may submit it, but in case of successful selection you will be asked to send the subtitles additionally.
Entries published no earlier than January 1, 2019 are eligible to participate.

Our committee will pre-screen rough cuts of films, but only if they are picture-locked with the precise run time, including all end credits. When submitting a rough cut please include in the cover letter precisely what is unfinished and when your final edit will be completed. The committee may require an updated version before making final selections. We don't screen un-completed films at our festival.
The submitter may update their screener up until the final deadline, as long as the link and password for the submission remains the same. However, PWFF is only responsible for considering the project as it exists at the time of review. We are under no obligation to revisit updated cuts once a screener has been seen. Therefore, you should not submit your project if it is not complete enough to adequately represent the final product.
Updated cuts must be accessible via your FilmFreeway account.

No updated cuts will be accepted after the final submission deadline.
We only accept films which have been produced and completed within three (6) years of our festival date.

Entries must be in any voice languages, but must be subtitled in English.

All entrants agree, if accepted, to permit the World Through Silence Film Festival - Moscow, to exhibit their film entry at our 2024 Film Festival event, September 20-21.

Фильмы не на русском языке принимаются с английскими субтитрами и монтажными листами. Наличие русских или английских субтитров и монтажных листов желательно для всех видеоматериалов, вне зависимости от языка-оригинала, поскольку фестивальные фильмы будут субтитрироваться для неслышащих и слабослышащих людей.
К участию допускаются работы, выпущенные не ранее 1 января 2018 года.
