The LAcon V Film Festival, is a celebration of science fiction, fantasy, and other speculative fiction films from around the world. The festival will take place August 27-31, 2026.
NOTE: While we show horror films, we are looking for Horror films which are supernatural, fantastical, and other cosmic horrors.
The LAcon V Film Festival is being held as part of LAcon V, which is the 84th World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon). Worldcon is the annual convention of the World Science Fiction Society, first held in 1939. Each year it is held in a different city. In 2025 it was held in Seattle, WA, in 2024 was held in Glasgow, Scotland, and in 2023 was held in Chengdu, China.
You must be a member of the LAcon V to attend the festival. The LAcon V will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center and the Hilton Anaheim & Anaheim Marriott Hotels.
The LAcon V Film Festival wants to embrace and foster new voices in speculative fiction, including those of BIPOC, women, and LGBTQ+ creators. We will have judges who represent these voices. We also have a way for BIPOC directors to submit their films to the festival at a discounted.
The festival director has run nine previous film festivals, including last years Seattle Worldcon Film Festival.
LAcon V, the 2026 World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon), is presented by the Southern California Institute for Fan Interests (SCIFI), Inc., a California 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
