The Woods Hole Film Festival is a showcase of independent film spotlighting the work of emerging filmmakers from around the world. We emphasize cinematography in the film selection process. We also promote the work of WHFF alumni both during and after the Festival. In addition to screening over 150 works over the 8 day Festival, we offer workshops geared toward both veteran and emerging filmmakers. Additionally, we program a year-round screening series which offers a potential second screening opportunity for Festival filmmakers. All categories are competitive with both audience and Jury awards.

We offer Audience awards, Jury awards and Directors Choice awards. We offer prizes annually, but they are TBD.

The Woods Hole Film Festival will present the 31st Annual Woods Hole Film Festival from July 30 - August 6, 2022. Due to the unknown nature of any restrictions from the pandemic, the in-person and virtual formats of the event will be determined at a later date. Please check back for updates.

The Woods Hole Film Festival is a signatory of the Seed & Spark 2020 Festival Survival Pledge. Filmmaker attendance strongly encouraged, whether for the virtual or in-person Festival. Filmmaker must assist Festival in film promotion. Category, screening time, date, venue and format determination is at sole discretion of Festival. Woods Hole Film Festival is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival and for promotional purposes. Once a film is selected as an official selection by the Festival, a film may not be withdrawn from the Festival by the filmmaker for any reason whatsoever. Filmmaker agrees to comply with all Festival rules and requirements and abide by Festival code of conduct. Exceptions may apply, but must be approved by WHFF in order for the film to maintain its status as an official selection in competition. In general, WHFF screens only films completed within a 2 year period prior to the Festival in competition, however, the Festival reserves the right program films made prior to the 2 year period at our discretion.

Fantastic festival, we could not attend in person but enjoyed doing the panel zoom talks and meeting the other filmmakers via that. Also delighted with the programming of our film in Converstation Starters! Mark & Lor x

One of the top festivals out there!! I have been to it many times over the years and it is an absolute blast. It will be one of the highlights of your festival run. They really have quality films. The events, venues and parties are all amazing. WOODS HOLE in Massachusetts, is a gem of a town. Its part of CAPE COD and its near the island's of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. So many wonderful people attend this festival.

It was a great pleasure to have our film, Do.Solo.Pin, as part of the 2021 lineup. This festival and the staff are one of the best festivals out there. From the high-quality lineup and all the talented filmmakers, it felt very special to be a part of Woods Hole Film Festival. Issue around covid made it very difficult for us to be present in person, but from faraway it felt like being a part of a family: very delighted to be a part of the Woods Hole Film Festival family.

Woods Hole Film Festival is excellent in every way! The Festival celebrated its 30th year so the know how to really bring it! Fantastic experience! Hannah programmed really great films; all the blocks were dynamic and the screenings were well run and the audiences were terrific! The Q& A conducted by Sean was one of the best I’ve experienced. John organized informal gatherings at a local place after the screenings so the filmmakers could network! Really thoughtful and so much fun! Woods Hole is also a beautiful location and a very welcoming community. So it was super special to be there and to experience one of the best festivals on the circuit! The interns of the Festival were also amazing folks, almost all involved in film, either studying it or making it, so they were very engaging, always helpful and wonderfully kind. Thank you Woods Hole for making this in person experience one to hold on to.

The team at Woods Hole did such a wonderful job communicating everything and facilitating connection to other filmmakers. The audience was engaged and passionate, and it was a great festival experience. The team is detail oriented and truly care about what they do and work hard to take care of their filmmakers.
