The Woods Hole Film Festival is a showcase of independent film spotlighting the work of emerging filmmakers from around the world. We emphasize cinematography in the film selection process. We also promote the work of WHFF alumni both during and after the Festival. In addition to screening over 130 works over the 8 day Festival, we offer hands-on workshops geared toward both veteran and emerging filmmakers. Screenwriting competition finalists will be offered a space in the annual Writers weekend. Our year round screening series offers a second screening opportunity for Festival filmmakers. All categories are competitive. Some categories are juried. Audience awards given in all categories.

Awards & Prizes

We offer audience awards and jury awards in select categories. Prizes include 1st look opportunity for distribution by Monterey Media, software, Best of Fest screenings, possible inclusion in year round series.

I was not able to attend this festival this year, but from everything I experienced with communication and following up with facebook postings it looked to be a wonderful time. I hope to attend in the future!

The Woods Hole Film Festival is a really special place to screen your film. After showing our first short documentary there in 2012, we were thrilled to return in 2017 with our debut feature, Adele and Everything After. The festival provides networking and educational opportunities for filmmakers in the form of events, brunches, panels, outings and parties. If you're screening at Woods Hole, plan to spend at least a couple of days hanging out and connecting with the open and welcoming community. The town of Woods Hole itself is charming, rustic and all-around beautiful and the festival really integrates into the location, holding events at local bars and restaurants and hosting screenings at quirky and unusual local venues. I was impressed by the PR and social media presence for this year's festival which was very active and created a lot of audience awareness and engagement. Certainly a worthwhile experience.

Our audience loved your film. I had the added experience of one of my volunteers and her service dog. Thanks for being here.

This was the most organized and hospitable festival I have been to. I only gave it 4 stars for networking because I was there for only two days so can't really speak to that question. Screenings were sold out to enthusiastic audiences. Accommodations are expensive, but the setting is stunning.
