【Eligibility】
◆The films submitted need to be directed at least by One FEMALE (including self-identifying female) Director.
◆International films eligible for entry must be completed no earlier than March 1st, 2021 except the films related to the following theme, Appearance Anxiety, Digital Sexual Violence.
◆A Taiwan Premiere is required.
◆WMWIFF is open to all forms, styles, lengths, and formats. Anything related to LGBTQI communities, women issues and ideologies such as feminism and post-feminism, and current events around the world that reflects the status quo of women. We also encourage sexy, cutting-edge, thought-provoking, and daring films that are innovative in cinematic styles and forms, that explore the aesthetic possibilities of the cinematic forms, and that continue challenging our knowledge and thoughts on various aspects from and about the perspective of women.
【Entry Guidelines】
◆The deadline for submission is 06 March 2023. Please submit via FilmFreeway and make sure to have an online screener available before the shortlists are announced and do not change the URL or password after submitting, and include as much information as possible. Incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration.
◆The submitted films should be presented with English dialogue or in their original versions with English subtitles. We advise you to also subtitle films even if they are spoken in English.
◆Entry fees of USD 10 are required. Entrants must submit completed work. Works-in-progress are not accepted.
◆It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to secure clearance from the copyright holders of any copyrighted materials included within the submitted film. WMWIFF will not be held responsible for the unauthorized inclusion of any copyrighted materials within or relating to the submitted film.
◆The entrant agrees to all the rules and regulations stated in this Entry Guidelines. Violation of this Entry Guideline may result in disqualification from the competition.
【Authorization and Obligation】
Once the films are selected, the festival has the right to:
◆Download, compile, and publicly present, the publicity materials for marketing, promotional, and exhibition purposes all free of charge. The publicity materials will be used in areas including but not limited to festival publicity, media reports, filing, and archiving with no restriction on the territory and duration of use.
◆Produce and keep Chinese subtitled screening copies in the festival archive for non-circulating use, excluding any loan or public usage. Any kind of public presentation is strictly prohibited.
Required Materials:
The publicity materials below should be provided as soon as your film is selected. Please also note that all the submitted materials will not be returned.
◆At least 3 high-resolution film stills (with 300 dpi files or above the minimum size of 1 MB each)
◆Synopsis of the film in English
◆Director’s profile and filmography in English
◆A frontal portrait of the director (high-resolution file with 300 dpi or above minimum size of 1 MB)
◆Full casts and credits list
◆Completed dialogue list in original language AND English
◆A list of previous festival participation and awards in English
The additional materials list below are also welcome:
◆Trailer in .mov or .mp4 file with English subtitles
◆Director’s statement (300 words maximum) in English
◆Film reviews
◆Press kits
For the screening materials:
Preferably DCP with theatrical screening quality or Full HD (ProRes 422 HQ.mov) files. The deadline for receiving is before 1 August 2023 either by post or internet. For non-English speaking films, English subtitles are required. The content of the screening copy should match that of the screener submitted for entry. WMWIFF reserves the right to determine the eligibility of the film if this is violated.
●Screening fee:
The screening fee for the selected titles during the festival will be automatically waived. Entrants of the shortlisted films are required to sign an authorization form correspondingly. WMWIFF will be eligible for the possibility of an invitation to the festival attendance, regional distribution, and so on. Some of the films will be chosen for screening to the disadvantaged outside the capital between October to December. All the minority benefit screening is free of charge, and the screening time and audience are limited.
●Shipping costs:
WMWIFF won't cover any shipping costs during the submission stage. For films selected for our festival, we will cover the print's shipping costs (custom tax included) to and from the original print source only. Please note that WMWIFF will NOT be responsible for any shipping costs (custom tax included) for the next destination.
◆Please Note
All submitted screeners and materials will be archived by WMWIFF for internal viewing, judging, and future academic research. The films will not be screened publicly without further authorization.
WMWIFF reserves the right to modify or substitute any of the rules and regulations stated in the WMWIFF Entry Guidelines when necessary. WMWIFF also has the right to interpret and decide all matters relating to the WMWIFF Entry Guidelines, selection process, competition results, and method of screening.
