The Winnipeg Real To Reel Film Festival seeks cool, clean and compelling films that inspire audiences to a greater understanding of the human journey. In the last 16 years we have had the privilege of sharing the festival with a gate attendance of over 58,000. We have also welcomed actors Robert Picardo (the hologram doctor on Star Trek), Kim Rhodes (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody) and many others.

Films screened at our festival have shed light on numerous important topics. We feature dramas, comedies, adventure, sci-fi, documentaries and shorts. We also feature films for families.

We have been honoured to welcome filmmakers from Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Saskatchewan, England and of course our home province of Manitoba. Official Selections and Winners at the Winnipeg Real to Reel Film Festival have gone on to have their films distributed and have their scripts produced.

It would be an honour to welcome you to our festival. We are based in Winnipeg, one of the coldest cities in the world. And we take place in February, one of the coldest months of the year! But we are a warm and welcoming festival in the middle of winter, making the Winnipeg Real to Reel Film Festival a treasure. Remember to bring your skates and skate one of the longest outdoor skating paths in the world. And if you like hockey as much as we do you can also check out the Winnipeg Jets.

Thank you for considering the Winnipeg Real to Reel Film Festival. We wish you the very best of success in all your filmmaking endeavours.

What fun! Surprise me with the Short Screenplay award.

That's a great way to bring back my Christmas in Winnipeg memories. Thank you so much.

  • I didn't attend in-person, so take my perspective for what it is worth.
I am happy to have my feature screenplay selected and win the 2025 competition.
All the highlights online make it look like several days' worth of content to see in person. Communication has been gracious and professional.
    Would recommend.

A great festival to be able to show at. I was only able to attend the day my documentary was showing, but the crowd and the atmosphere was great. Paul really works hard to be hospitable and helpful the entire time. The Q+A's after each film give the audience a great chance to respond. I was honoured to win a people's choice award as well.

  • So delighted to have had my short script LIFE IS GOOD selected for this festival, and after seeing the line-up of films, I am truly sorry I could not attend in person. I love the focus on programming positive and uplifting content, and I will be submitting again!
