The Winnipeg Real To Reel Film Festival seeks cool, clean and compelling films that inspire audiences to a greater understanding of the human journey. In the last 11 years we have had the privilege of sharing the festival with a gate attendance of over 44,000. We have also welcomed actors Robert Picardo (the hologram doctor on Star Trek), Kim Rhodes (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody) and many others.

Films screened at our festival have shed light on numerous important topics. We feature dramas, comedies, adventure, sci-fi, documentaries and shorts. We also feature films for families.

We have been honoured to welcome filmmakers from Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Saskatchewan, England and of course our home province of Manitoba. Official Selections and Winners at the Winnipeg Real to Reel Film Festival have gone on to have their films distributed and have their scripts produced.

It would be an honour to welcome you to our festival. We are based in Winnipeg, one of the coldest cities in the world. And we take place in February, one of the coldest months of the year! But we are a warm and welcoming festival in the middle of winter, making the Winnipeg Real to Reel Film Festival a treasure. Remember to bring your skates and skate one of the longest outdoor skating paths in the world. And if you like hockey as much as we do you can also check out the Winnipeg Jets.

Thank you for considering the Winnipeg Real to Reel Film Festival. We wish you the very best of success in all your filmmaking endeavours.

What a great festival and great experience. Our short script 'Amberley's Chistmas' won the best short script award which was a great surprise and the prize money was most unexpected but most welcome. Also Paul's interest, encouragement and advice was very appreciated. I will be sure to enter this contest in the future,

    Great folks to deal with!
We were so happy that our short film, Kodoku, was selected and though we wished we could have attended in person, everyone we dealt with was so helpful and hospitable!!

  • This festival was a very pleasant experience. Wonderful communication - including a personal notification phone call about being selected. Their team was helpful and very responsive. Gave clear instructions about how to help them help us market to the audience.
I would recommend this festival for sure!!

I have heard many great things about the festival. They did a good job making it an online festival due to covid but really hope I can attend in person in the future. Communication was really warm and friendly!

A warm and welcoming film festival filled with "cool, clean and compelling films." I was honored for my film, The Way to Hawassa, to be selected, and a part of a great line up. My only regret is that it was held online this year, so I could not attend in person and meet some of the other filmmakers and the wonderful staff that runs it. The upside was online access provided the ability to see so many of the films being showcased, and also allows for people who can't get to Winnipeg an opportunity to attend virtually.

Truly, this is a gem of a film festival! Very happy to be a part of it this year.
