Absolutely LOVED every part of this festival. Warm welcome, perfectly organized, great venues and networking opportunities, high-quality films and it's in one of the best cities. Mindy and her team put on a fab fest, and we will definitely be there next year. :)

Windy City was well-run, the organizers were friendly and engaging, the venue was good for showing films and between-session networking. One great opportunity for screenwriters like me is that Windy staged 4-minute excerpts of the selected screenplays by local actors - a treat! The bar for including content seemed a little low, and most attendees seemed to be people with content in the festival.

First off, if you are a filmmaker based in the Chicago area or close by, I highly recommend submitting your work to this festival and attending if you are able. This festival puts great attention on local filmmakers and this year had 24 short films from Chicago alone spread over multiple screenings. If you’re not from Chicago though, please do submit too!
Windy City was located in a beautiful and historic theater in the famous Lincoln Park neighborhood in Chicago. You won’t find many venues with the conveniences of this one. Hopefully they keep it for future festivals.
The festival itself was ran very competently on behalf of Mindy, Josh, and their wonderful team. They put together one great screening after another. Filmmakers want nothing more than for their work to be seen, as that theater was packed every screening I attended, I’d say this festival grants that wish. They even had their own unique questions prepared to ask each filmmaker during Q&A’s after each screening. No filmmaker was left out and it lead to great stories and discussions; the audience of course joined in with their own questions. There are so many other things I could discuss such as the excellent and personable communication, networking opportunities, and of course our films win of “Best Chicago Short”.
Every little detail of this festival had such care and passion put into it and the team will be submitting again in the future. Best wishes to all involved in keeping this festival great!
