Important Festival Update: Festival Update: https://www.wexfordfilmfestival.com/festival-update-covid-19-update

A film festival run by filmmakers for filmmakers and movie fans in one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland, Wexford Town. The festival dates of the 2020 Wexford Film Festival are subject to change but will take place after the August Bank Holiday in Ireland in 2020.

Now entering our 5th year, the Wexford Film Festival invites submissions from filmmakers all over the world and in every genre. We're all about story and visual storytelling, our festival will select the films that tell the best stories and connect with the audience the best.

Directors of all films selected will be invited to participate in a Q&A after their screening and to be on a number of panels during the festival weekend.

At the 2018 Wexford Film Festival we had surprise special guests, 6 time Academy Award nominee Jim Sheridan & acclaimed author Eoin Colfer come and do a Q&A about their work.

Two of the films (One Small Step & Detainment) screened at the 2018 Wexford Film Festival went on to be Academy Award Nominees in 2019.

Come along to one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland, where Saving Private Ryan and Brooklyn were filmed and don't forget to bring your movie with you!

We think it is very important to recognise great work, just being selected for our festival will be the mark of a great film but there is always a film or two that stands out from the crowd and we want to help shine a light on those films.

We work closely with some of the film industries biggest companies to bring quality prizes and awards to our winners. This year will be no different and we will announce those prizes in closer to the event.

All films entered are eligible for the following awards:

Best Film
Best Actor
Best Actress
Best Director

We will also being running a Screenplay competition.

All award winners will be presented with a specially designed award trophy of the highest quality.

  • Thank you for selecting my screenplay. “Little Things Mean a Lot,” as a Finalist in your festival. I would love to attend in-person but I’m trying to avoid unnecessary covid-19 risks, including all international travel until a vaccine is widely available. Assuming you cannot postpone it for that long, I’m sending my best wishes to you for a wonderful event.

  • What a lovely festival. I see it expanding in the future into something really exceptional for filmmakers in Ireland and abroad. I think adding some filmmaking and writing workshops, maybe adding a screening of a top Irish feature with the Director and/or lead actors doing a Q & A and having a dedicated screenplay panel with feedback and a few more networking events would really put this on the map.

Brilliant festival, great line up of films and really well communicated. I couldn't attend but was very happy to be part of an event that loves independent cinema.
