Rules
1.- National (México) and international films are accepted.
2.- We accept short and feature films in all genres (included animation). SHORT FILMS must not have a duration longer than 15 minutes, DOCUMENTARY SHORT FILMS must not have a duration longer than 20 minutes, INTERNATIONAL HALF-LENGTH FILMS must have a duration between of 30 minutes and 59 minutes, INTERNATIONAL FEATURE FILMS must not have a duration shorter than 60 minutes.
In all cases the runtime is including credits, and may not be recorded before 2018. There is no limit to the films that each participant can register, but an individual submission procedure must be carried out for each work.
3.- To register, participants must make a single digital submission with the following information:
3.1.- All Feature and Short Films must be submitted as online screeners via FilmFreeway. The screener may be spoken in any language, respecting the following conditions: if spoken in a language other than Spanish or English, it must be subtitled in Spanish or English.
4.- In order to be eligible for consideration, submission screeners must be submitted online via FilmFreeway, with a FilmFreeway registration completed and all fees paid, by the deadlines outlined below.
The deadline for receiving films will be Friday, November 30 at 23:00 hrs. The titles of the short films selected to participate will be announced on December 4.

5.- In case of being selected to participate, the participant must send a copy to download the short film in Quicktime format H.264 (.mov), specifying the original aspect ratio (Widescreen / Standard), with a minimum HD resolution (1280x720). This digital copy should be sent using free services such as wetransfer.com or a public link to dropbox.com, or a private link to vimeo.com (enabling download). WTF! Short Film Night Mérida will not be given any charge for downloading the material, nor will the short film be accepted on a physical medium. Only digitally submitted jobs will be accepted.
By submitting a Film to “WTF!” for Festival consideration, the submitter (the “Applicant”) represents that he, she, or they have obtained consent from any and all owners, creators, writers, producers, and/or other authorized representatives of the Film whose consent is required to submit the Film to “WTF!” (the “Film Owners”) and screen the Film at the Festival.
This festival takes place in Mexico, therefore, all films must have subtitles in Spanish on the day of their screening. If you do not have subtitles, contact our organizers.
“WTF!” may disqualify or reject, but is not required to do so, any submission that it determines, in its sole and absolute discretion, is not in compliance, in whole or in part, with these Terms, and may do so without refunding any or all submission fees paid by the Applicant or returning the Applicant’s submission.
ABOUT THE AWARD
6.- WTF! Short Film Night will be held from 1 to Sunday 6 December 2020 at Centro Cultural Olimpo in Mérida.
7.- All selected films will receive a record of participation and their directors will receive a VIP pass as a special guest to event and free access to all their activities (expenses derived from the trip not included).
In case of not being able to attend, a video will be requested where the director or producer of the film tells in less than 5 minutes the craziest problems during the production of the film and how they were solved.
8.- The award of the film competition will be during the closing ceremony of the festival, on december 1 to 6. A special diploma will be send to the films winner in addition to an economic prize for 500 Mexican pesos.
9.- The contest may be declared void in the event that an appropriate number of selectable films are not reached.

Anti-Piracy
“WTF!” takes reasonable anti-piracy precautions. All Films are securely stored and regularly inventoried. Access to Films is limited to “WTF!” staff who require access in order to screen and consider submissions. No duplication and loaning of Films is permitted. By submitting a Film to WTF! Short Film Night, the Submitting Parties hereby release the Releasees from any and all liability in the event of theft, unauthorized access, or copying, or any breach of copyright of the submitted Film while it is in WTF!’s possession.
