The West Coast Student Film Festival (WCSFF) will feature student films from around the world. The event will take place in October 2021 in Los Angeles, California. Submissions are open to all current students (U.S. and International) who have a completed short film with a total running time of 20 minutes or less.

RULES & ELIGIBILITY

1. The student filmmaker must have been enrolled as a student at a high school, college, university, grad school, or film school at the time the submitted film was made. All U.S. and International students are eligible to apply.

2. Entries must be submitted to the Festival no later than one year from the date of graduation.

3. Entries must be submitted online through the designated WCSFF submission portal via FilmFreeway between June 1, 2019 and June 1, 2021. Submission links that take the viewer to a third party site to view the entry are not allowed.

4. No entry may be longer than 20 minutes including opening and closing credits.

5. All entries submitted must be in English, subtitled in English, or dubbed in English.

6. There is no premiere requirement for films. (Films can have already played in other festivals, can appear online and are still eligible for consideration).

7. Entry forms must list the name(s) of the film’s credited director(s).

8. Entry fee for all submissions: $12.00 USD. The entry fee is non-refundable. Payment accepted via FilmFreeway.

9. More than one entry may be submitted. Each entry must be accompanied by an official entry form and entry fee.

10. WCSFF Submission Categories (20 minutes or less): Comedy, Drama, Documentary, Animation, Alternative/Experimental, and Global Impact.

11. WCSFF shall judge entries on the basis of originality, entertainment value, and production quality without regard to cost of production or subject matter. Entries shall be judged only within their respective category.

12. WCSFF Approved Formats: HD quality digital file (min. resolution of 1920x1080): Quicktime (Apple ProRes 422 HQ, Apple ProRes 4444), H.264, H.265 (HEVC). Soundtrack: 2 Channel Stereo PCM, 5.1 Channel PCM.

13. Filmmakers will be notified no later than August 31, 2021 of their submission status.

14. If your film is selected, you may be asked to provide: posters, synopsis, bios, film stills and more.

15. All film entries selected for the Festival grant WCSFF the rights to use provided stills, footage, clips, trailers and information from the film for promotional purposes only.

16. All films submitted must be free from any legal disputes and the filmmaker must have cleared all rights for music and exhibition.

17. WCSFF does not offer travel stipend or accommodation at this time for filmmakers.
