The World AI Movie Festival (WAIMF) is an international event dedicated to the emerging art of AI-generated filmmaking.

The WAIMF celebrates a new generation of storytellers exploring the future of cinema through artificial intelligence, hybrid workflows, and innovative visual languages.

The festival brings together filmmakers, artists, AI creators, and cinema enthusiasts for a live screening event focused on creativity, storytelling, and cinematic experimentation.

FESTIVAL VENUE
The first edition of WAIMF will take place on October 7-8, 2026 in Puerto Banús- Marbella, Spain, at the Red Dog Cinema.

The event features selected films, screenings, networking opportunities, an Awards Ceremony and an after-party.

All selected filmmakers will receive an official Selection Laurel and all winners receive Official WAIMF laurels, a winner certificate, partner gifts and promotion across WAIMF and FILM6 channels.

FESTIVAL RULES

The WAIMF is open to filmmakers, artists, creators, production companies, and studios from around the world.

WAIMF accepts films that integrate AI tools throughout the creative process, from writing and visual creation to animation, sound design, editing, and production.

Both fully AI-generated works and hybrid productions combining AI and traditional filmmaking techniques are eligible.

All genres, styles, and narrative formats are welcome.

The submitter must own or control all necessary rights related to the submitted work, including music, images, voice performances, and any third-party materials used in the production.

Films must have been completed after January 1, 2025. Projects completed before this date are not eligible unless specifically invited by the festival.

To be eligible for consideration, all submitted films must have a minimum running time of 4 minutes, including end credits. All entries must be submitted digitally and provided as online screeners accessible throughout the selection process.

Selected filmmakers will receive further instructions regarding screening and delivery requirements upon notification. Films may be submitted in any language. All films whose primary language is not English must include accurate English subtitles.

Selected filmmakers may also be asked to provide Spanish subtitles for screening purposes.

WAIMF does not require premiere status as films remain fully eligible for submission and consideration, including those that have been: Screened at other festivals Published on social media Made available on streaming platforms.

SCREENING RIGHTS

By submitting a film, entrants confirm that:
- They hold all necessary rights and permissions for exhibition
- The submission does not infringe upon any copyright, trademark, privacy, or intellectual property rights
- WAIMF may use excerpts, trailers, still images, posters, and promotional materials from the submitted project for festival marketing, publicity, press coverage, and social media promotion

Copyright remains entirely with the filmmaker and rights holder. Selected filmmakers grant WAIMF the non-exclusive right to screen the film during the festival and associated promotional activities related to the event. No ownership rights are transferred to the festival.
