Vertigo Film Fest - Milano International Short Film Festival, is an annual festival based in Milan, having reached it's fourth edition this year. The Festival is exclusively focused on short films, receiving every year Fiction, Documentary and Animation films from all over the world.

The main objective of the festival is to make the screening of short films a moment of sharing, debate and exchange of opinions. For this purpose, we adobted an itinerant approch, having several screening events during the year in different places of the city (like bistros, clubs and cultural centers).

At the end of the yearly selection window, on April 30th 2023, a selection of short films will be nominated for the awards and screened in a final multi-day event. The final event will take place in Milan on July 2023, alternating the screenings with moments of culture, music and debates with special guests. The winners will be chosen by an external jury of industry professionals.

This year, for the first time, the Vertigo Film Fest introduces the Milano Academy category, a section reserved to the students of audio visual within the district of Milan.

Vertigo Film Fest, Milano International Short Film Festival, alla sua quarta edizione, è un festival annuale che si svolge a Milano. Il festival si focalizza esclusivamente sui cortometraggi, e ogni anno accoglie opere di Fiction, Documentario e Animazione provenienti da tutto il mondo.

Il festival si pone come obiettivo principale quello di rendere la proiezione dei film brevi un momento di condivisione, dibattito e scambio di opinioni. Per farlo abbiamo scelto una modalità itinerante, portando per più serate all’anno schermo e proiettore in luoghi sempre diversi della città (bistrò, locali, centri culturali e cinema di quartiere).

Alla fine dell’anno i cortometraggi finalisti trovano il loro spazio in un evento finale di più giorni, durante il quale le proiezioni si alternano a momenti di cultura, musica e dibattiti con ospiti speciali. L’evento avrà luogo a Milano nel mese di Luglio 2023. I vincitori saranno scelti da una giuria esterna di professionisti del settore.

A partire da questa edizione, il Vertigo Film Fest introduce la categoria Milano Academy, categoria riservata agli studenti dell'audiovisivo di Milano e provincia.

- The Vertigo Film Fest Selection window opens on October 3rd 2022 and closes on April 30th 2023.

- All films must have a lenght of maximum 32 minutes and have been ultimated after January 1st, 2016.

- The Vertigo Film Fest Official Selection will be announced by private email and on the Vertigo Film Fest social medias during the month of May.

- The final event of the Festival will take place in Milan in July 2023, screening the short films of the Official Selection for the Best Movie, Best Animation and Best Documentary categories.

- Only the Best Movie, Best Documentary and Best Animation Award will win the award prize. All the awarded short films will receive a certification from the festival and the Official Laurel of the Vertigo Film Fest.

- The purpose of the screening events taking place during the selection window is to involve the public in the selection process. The short films that are screened in these events are not necessary included in the Official Selection of the festival.

- If a short film is selected in a screening event, the director / distributor will be asked to provide an unsubtitled copy of the short film together with two .srt files containing English and Italian subtitles. In case of impossibility of providing the Italian subtitles, it is necessary to promptly notify the organizers of the festival, in order to ensure their realization. Failing to comply with this requirements may cause the exclusion of the film from the competition, with no refund of the registration fee.

- At the time of registration, the applicant declares to be in possession of all the audio and video rights of the submitted work.

- Participants declare that they leave the rights of the film to the Festival for the sole purpose of advertising the festival on the various platforms; extracts and frames of the short films can be used for creating trailers, critics articles, clips and posters related to the Festival.

- The authors are invited to share through their social media the contents related to their movies that are pubblished on the Vertigo Film Fest official website and social media.

- The category Milano Academy is reserved strictly to the student of the highschools, academies and universities of cinema and audio visual within the district of Milan. In case of selection the student is going to provide a certificate of his registration in the Academy.

- Le iscrizioni per la Selezione Ufficiale aprono il 3 Ottobre 2022 e chiudono il 30 Aprile 2023.

- Tutti i film dovranno avere una durata massima di 32 minuti ed essere stati realizzati dopo il 1° gennaio 2016.

- La Selezione Ufficiale del Vertigo Film Fest verrà annunciata tramite mail privata e attraverso le pagine social del Vertigo Film Fest nel mese di Maggio.

- L’evento finale del Festival avrà luogo a Milano nel mese di Luglio 2023, durante il quale verranno proiettati i cortometraggi della Selezione Ufficiale per le categorie di Miglior Film, Miglior Animazione e Miglior Documentario.

- Solo i premi per Miglior Cortometraggio, Miglior Animazione e Miglior Documentario riceveranno un premio in denaro. Tutti i cortometraggi premiati riceveranno un certificato del festival e le palmette ufficiali del Vertigo Film Fest.

- L’intento delle serate di proiezione che si svolgono durante l’anno è quello di rendere il pubblico partecipe del processo di selezione. La scelta dei cortometraggi da proiettare in queste serate non comporta l’inclusione automatica nella selezione finale del festival.

- Qualora il cortometraggio venga incluso nelle serate di proiezioni o selezionato per l’evento finale il regista/distributore si impegna a fornire una copia non sottotitolata del cortometraggio insieme al file .srt contenente i sottotitoli in inglese. Pena l’esclusione della pellicola dalla competizione. In tale eventualità non è previsto rimborso della quota d’iscrizione.

- L’autore o il produttore, al momento dell’iscrizione, dichiara di essere in possesso di tutti i diritti audio e video dell’opera.

- I partecipanti dichiarano di lasciare al Festival i diritti del film al solo scopo di pubblicizzare il festival sulle varie piattaforme. Estratti e fotogrammi dei cortometraggi potranno essere utilizzati per la realizzazione di trailer, articoli di giornale e televisivi, clip e poster riguardanti il Festival.

- Gli autori selezionati sono invitati a diffondere, tramite i canali social, l’annuncio delle selezioni e gli altri contenuti pubblicato sui canali social o sul sito ufficiale del Vertigo Film Festival.

- La categoria Milano Academy è strettamente riservata agli studenti di scuole superiori, accademie e università di cinema e audio visivo del territorio di Milano e provincia. L'iscrizione richiede il codice. Se fate parte di questa categoria e non avete il codice non esitate a scrivere al nostro indirizzo mail.

- Al momento della selezione per la categoria Milano Academy verrà richiesto un certificato dell'iscrizione al corso di studi.

    A well-crafted, young festival, made by people who love Cinema. Nice and varied selection of international short movies. The choice to involve the spectators in a talk is entertaining and inspiring. The location, one of Milan’s iconic cinemas, is superbe. Vertigo seems to have all it takes to become one of the best Italian short film festivals.

    This is a wonderful, budding festival. The organizers are enthusiastic and dedicated. The location this year, an iconic cinema in downtown Milan, was superb. I appreciated the variety and careful curation of the selected films, and the fact that the Q&A's after the screenings had an academic discussion vibe to them. I think this is a very promising young Italian festival, which is bringing the right kind of energy into the landscape. Bravi!

    Il Vertigo Film Fest è stata una meravigliosa esperienza nonché una felice scoperta. Il giovane gruppo che compone lo staff di organizzazione è riuscito a creare un evento in cui la qualità della programmazione e il coinvolgemento del gruppo ne fanno da padrone. Un festival in cui il senso di comunità ed il confronto tra pubblico e autori e tra pubblico e cinema è il fulcro centrale dell'iniziativa. Spero di avere di nuovo la possibilità di prenderne parte e auguro ai ragazzi un sempre più roseo futuro! A presto!
