The Vancouver Chinese Film Festival: a non-profit overseas Chinese film festival officially recognized by the Government of British Columbia in Canada. The film festival was established in 2012, organized by the Vancouver Chinese Film Festival Organizing Committee, co-organized by the Vancouver International Film Festival and the Beijing University Student Film Festival. We have received strong support from the Chinese Consulate General in Vancouver and all levels of elected government in Canada.

The goal of the Vancouver Chinese Film Festival is to enhance public welfare by promoting Chinese culture and Chinese films. Our team’s talents in creative content creation, film marketing and other activities, allow excellent Chinese films to go abroad and be seen by the world.

The Vancouver Chinese Film Festival aims to enhance the development of China-Canada relations and promote cultural exchanges between China and Canada.

The Canadian government originally awarded the "Red Maple Leaf" symbol to the Vancouver Chinese Film Festival. The "Red Maple Leaf Award" is now the highest award of the Vancouver Chinese Film Festival.

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, said that the Vancouver Chinese Film Festival promoted “a greater understanding of Chinese culture and arts” and that the festival has helped “create a more inclusive Canada”. Liu Fei, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Vancouver, fully supported the Vancouver Chinese Film Festival and expressed hopes that more young people could contribute to cultural exchanges between China and Canada.

The holding of the Vancouver Chinese Film Festival has caused a sensation in Chinese-speaking regions of North America and Asia. More than 200 media organizations from all around the world have reported on the festival, which include CNN, Xinhua News Agency, Phoenix TV, Apple Daily, Sina, Tencent, Sohu and many more. The Vancouver Chinese Film Festival has cooperated with the Beijing University Student Film Festival, one of the four major film festivals in China, for three consecutive years. Through the interaction of universities, film exchanges, and other organizations, many excellent Chinese films have been presented to the world stage.

The Vancouver Chinese Film Festival has also cooperated with well-known North American film festivals such as the Vancouver International Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, and the Montreal Film Festival to push higher visibility for Chinese-language films.

The main events of the Vancouver Chinese Film Festival include: Opening Ceremony, Excellent Chinese Film Judging and Screening, Short Film Competition, Film Market and Script Venture Investment, Academic Seminar, Cocktail Party, "Red Maple Leaf Award" Award Ceremony and Closing Ceremony.
