Vierte Welle Film Festival (VWFF5) is based in Berlin and, since 2019, has aimed to give visibility to Queer and FLINTA+ artists to raise awareness about gender inequality, the fight against discrimination and the prevention of prejudice through citizen participation. This is achieved through short fiction, documentary, and experimental audiovisual projects from various parts of the world.
VWFF was created as a safe space for the screening, viewing, and discussion of audiovisual content with philosophical, political, economic, social, ecological, and cultural themes, whether academic or not, as represented in our categories.
For the fifth edition of our festival, we want to rethink the names of our categories to encompass broader audiences while also concentrating on common struggles with diverse groups without losing the festival's feminist and queer spirit. For the year 2025, the categories are:
* Queer (ex Trans Lives Matters): Queer and FLINTA+ stories that celebrate
differences and encourage the fight against discrimination.
* Activisms (ex Ecofeminism & Body Neutrality): Stories about various feminist-led activisms from around the world that seek social change.
* Me Too: Stories that highlight violence against women and queer individuals in all its forms (physical, mental, emotional, economic, institutional, etc), aiming to generate empathy and hope to foster change.
* Berlin Migrant: Stories by migrant directors in Berlin with a feminist perspective.
The submission fee is 5 euros but will be waived if the applicant uses the code VIERTEWELLE2025
The screenings will take place on March 15th and 16th 2025 at Lichtblick Kino, a venue that has been supporting the festival for several years.
For inclusivity purposes, all films are screened in their original language with English subtitles.
This festival is organized and exists thanks to Karne Kunst in collaboration with Sorora e.V.
Vierte Welle Film Festival is non-competitive, so filmmakers will not receive a physical or monetary award for being selected in any of the described categories. Instead, we offer a space for discussion and screening of their work, providing visibility to the creators on our social media platforms.
