The Uroboros Film Festival emerges as a space for reflection, discovery, and celebration of independent cinema from Mexico and around the world. Held in Xalapa, Veracruz, the festival brings together filmmakers and audiences to share films that transcend commercial formulas — works that explore the human condition through poetic language, bold storytelling, and deep, meaningful narratives.

We believe in cinema as an art form — one that transforms, questions, and moves. While all genres and themes are welcome, our focus leans toward films with artistic sensitivity, visual intention, and emotional or symbolic depth.

Official selections and winning films will be screened live with audiences, fostering a direct and thoughtful exchange between stories and viewers. Uroboros values both national voices and international reach, aiming to create bridges between global creators and Mexican audiences.

Uroboros Film Festival nace como un espacio de encuentro y contemplación para el cine independiente de México y el mundo. Celebrado en la ciudad de Xalapa, Veracruz, este festival invita a creadores, públicos y voces diversas a compartir obras cinematográficas que trascienden lo comercial, explorando el alma humana a través de formas poéticas, narrativas arriesgadas y profundas historias personales o colectivas.

Apostamos por el cine como arte: un medio que transforma, cuestiona y conmueve. Aunque aceptamos todos los géneros y estilos, nos enfocamos especialmente en obras con una sensibilidad artística, con trasfondos significativos y propuestas visuales que hablen desde lo íntimo, lo simbólico o lo universal.

Durante el festival, las películas seleccionadas y ganadoras serán proyectadas en vivo ante público, fomentando el diálogo directo entre obra y espectador, en un entorno cálido y profundamente humano, creando puentes para que piezas de distintas partes del mundo encuentren resonancia en el público mexicano.

Uroboros es símbolo de ciclo, renacimiento y creación constante — y así entendemos el cine: como un acto eterno de transformación.

🌀 Non-Competitive Category:
Films and Short films submitted to the Non-Competitive Showcase will be officially screened before a live audience, but are not eligible for jury awards. This category is ideal for filmmakers seeking exposure and recognition without entering competition.

🎓 Recognition:
All award winners will receive an official digital certificate and Uroboros Film Festival laurel.

Filmmakers attending the event in person will be presented with a printed certificate during the award gathering.

Mejor Lenguaje Visual
Por el uso excepcional de la cinematografía, la composición y la imagen poética. Aplica tanto para ficción como para documental.

Mejor Banda Sonora Original
En reconocimiento a una composición musical original destacada que potencie la atmósfera emocional y artística de la obra.

Premio Nuevas Voces
Otorgado al mejor cortometraje que sea la primera obra del director, reconociendo voces emergentes con una fuerte promesa artística y originalidad.

Mención Especial del Jurado
Concedido a una obra que dejó una impresión duradera por su audacia emocional o experimental.

🌀 Categoría No Competitiva:
Los cortometrajes y largometrajes inscritos en la Categoría No Competitiva serán proyectados oficialmente ante una audiencia en vivo, pero no serán elegibles para premios del jurado. Esta categoría está pensada para cineastas que buscan proyección y reconocimiento sin entrar en competencia.

🎓 Reconocimientos:
Todos los ganadores recibirán un certificado digital oficial y el laurel del Uroboros Film Festival.

Los cineastas que asistan presencialmente al evento recibirán su certificado impreso durante la ceremonia de premiación.

📜 Rules & Terms – Uroboros Film Festival
By submitting your film to the Uroboros Film Festival, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

🎬 Eligibility & Duration:
All short films submitted to the competitive categories must have a maximum runtime of 40 minutes.

Films must have been completed within the last 12 months at the time of submission.

Films not in Spanish must include English subtitles. Spanish subtitles are encouraged and appreciated.

All submissions must be made via FilmFreeway or by providing a Vimeo link with password and download option enabled.

🌀 Non-Competitive Showcase:
The Non-Competitive Category is open to both short and feature-length films.

Films in this category must have been completed within the last 24 months.

Any feature film that requires a screening fee to be paid to a distributor, producer, or sales agent will be automatically disqualified from this category without refund.

All submission fees are non-refundable, under any circumstances.

🎥 Screenings & Rights:
By submitting your film, you authorize the Uroboros Film Festival to screen your short or feature film to a live audience as part of the festival program.

All screenings are non-commercial. No ticket will be sold to attendees during official screenings.

If selected, your film may be included in official communication and promotion of the festival.

🛡️ Originality & Copyright:
All material submitted to the Uroboros Film Festival must be original work.

The submitter must own all necessary rights for exhibition, including rights to music, images, video, sound, and any other content used in the film.

The festival is not responsible for any legal claims arising from unauthorized use of copyrighted material.

By submitting your work, you confirm that you have full permission to screen the film publicly as part of the festival.

🚫 Content Guidelines:
The festival reserves the right to disqualify or reject any submission containing racist content, hate speech, or language promoting violence against individuals or communities based on ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion or origin.

Al inscribir tu película al Uroboros Film Festival, aceptas los siguientes términos y condiciones:

🎬 Elegibilidad y Duración:
Todos los cortometrajes inscritos en las categorías competitivas deben tener una duración máxima de 40 minutos.

Las obras deben haber sido finalizadas como máximo hace 12 meses al momento de su inscripción.

Todo material en inglés u otro idioma distinto al español debe contar con subtítulos en inglés. Se agradece y recomienda además la inclusión de subtítulos en español.

Las películas deben enviarse por medio de FilmFreeway o a través de un link de Vimeo con contraseña y la opción de descarga habilitada.

🌀 Categoría No Competitiva:
La Categoría No Competitiva está abierta tanto a cortometrajes como largometrajes.

Las obras en esta categoría deben haber sido finalizadas como máximo hace 24 meses.

Cualquier largometraje que requiera el pago de un costo de proyección por parte del distribuidor o entidad que lo represente será descartado automáticamente de esta categoría sin posibilidad de reembolso.

💸 Costos de Inscripción:
Todos los costos de inscripción son no reembolsables, sin excepción.

🎥 Proyecciones y Derechos:
Al inscribir tu película, autorizas al Uroboros Film Festival a proyectarla ante una audiencia en vivo como parte del programa oficial.

Todas las funciones son no comerciales, es decir, el público no pagará entrada para asistir a las proyecciones oficiales.

En caso de ser seleccionada, tu obra podrá ser utilizada para fines promocionales del festival.

🛡️ Derechos de Autor y Originalidad:
Todo material inscrito al Uroboros Film Festival debe ser una obra original.

Quien inscriba la pieza debe poseer todos los derechos de exhibición, incluyendo música, imágenes, video, sonido y cualquier otro elemento utilizado.

El festival no se hace responsable por reclamos legales derivados del uso no autorizado de material protegido por derechos de autor.

Al enviar tu obra, declaras que tienes plena autorización para su proyección pública en el marco del festival.

🚫 Contenido Inaceptable:
El festival se reserva el derecho de descartar cualquier material que contenga contenido racista, discurso de odio o lenguaje que promueva la violencia hacia cualquier población, grupo étnico o comunidad.
