THIS FESTIVAL IS FOR ARTISTS AGES 13 TO 26 ONLY! PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT IF YOU ARE NOT WITHIN THIS AGE RANGE. WE ARE IN THE WORKS OF CREATING A SIMILAR FESTIVAL FOR ADULTS.

PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT UNLESS YOU READ THROUGH ALL THE GUIDELINES. COMPLETE THE QUESTIONAIRE PROPERLY.

WE WANT TO ENSURE DIVERSE VOICES ARE HEARD AROUND THE WORLD. WE OFFER A SAFE SPACE FOR YOUR UNIQUE AND DISTINCT VOICES.

The Urbanite Arts & Film Festival (UAFF) will provide young adults between the ages 13 to 26 with an opportunity to express their artistic vision through photography, written works (short screenplays), spoken word, short films, and music videos, all with the use of smartphones or tablets. In addition to creative works created by smartphones we will also be allowing the use of other camera types such as DSLR's, Red's, Black Magic, etc.

Our FIFTH year, will take place at the Hudson Valley Museum of Contemporary Art (HVMOCA) in Peekskill, NY and showcase the next generation of artists within these disciplines.

The Urbanite Arts and Film Festival’s mission is to foster the next generation of filmmakers and artists who are often underrepresented. UAFF will highlight underrepresented voices including, but not limited to, young women, BIPOC, Latinx, LGBTQIA, people with disabilities, and the neurodiverse communities. Through exhibition of their art, we create a platform for a diverse range of young artists to express themselves creatively and launch creative careers.

Submissions made by person not within the age range will be DISQUALIFIED. For those 27 and older, please be mindful. It is extremely disrespectful to the artists when you submit work when you DO NOT meet the requirements simply because this is a free festival. Be Kind. Thank you.

Based on current world events we have decided to waive ALL Fees associated with submissions. OUR FESTIVAL IS FIRST AND FOREMOST A SAFE SPACE FOR DIVERSE VOICES AND WE DO NOT WISH TO HINDER ANYONE WITH A STORY TO TELL. Thank you.

WINNER SELECTION

Selection of Finalists

All Submissions will be pre-screened for eligibility. Entries meeting the age requirement and submitting a cover letter will be deemed eligible. Eligible entries will be viewed and scored by UAFF. Those selected for the UAFF will be considered for Official Selections. Official Selections will be scored by persons within the respective industries of television, film, photography, production, writing, music, or broadcasting industry experience, otherwise known as the “jury.”

Any person within the jury may not have any direct involvement in the production of any entry or official selection or have a personal relationship with the submitter of said entry.

Jury members will alert UAFF if they find an entry they are judging has their direct involvement. The entry will be removed from that juror’s queue and assigned to another juror. That jury member will abstain from rating any eligible entry to maintain compliance with the previously stated guideline.

UAFF will have two categories: Official Selections and Winners. The jury will select up to three (3) "Finalists" in each Award Category based on the criteria below for each category.

Films with the highest average score, as compared to Finalists as determined by the Jury, will be grouped into a second pool of eligible entries known as "Official Selections."

Category winners will be determined based on the criteria for each Category. The jury will treat the recommended maximum total run time in each category as a guideline, not a hard rule. It will use professional discretion to select a pool of finalists representative of a range of student filmmaking.
