The mission for Tromsø Educational Film Festival (TREFF) is to promote the use of film as a pedagogical tool.  TREFF is all about showcasing creative and clever ways to teach through film and we want to present the best films made for education.

At TREFF we bring together filmmakers and educators alike and cultivate new connections and inspiration within the world of educational film.

During TREFF we will not only watch films, but also discuss their pedagogical value. We will also have several interesting key notes who will talk about film as a medium for learning. There will also be an opportunity to attend a workshop and we will have social gatherings.

Tromsø is a small but vibrant city in the North of Norway surrounded by mountains and the sea. The city offers an easy access to stunning nature as well as an academic and creative environment at UiT The Arctic University of Norway.

Awards & Prizes

There will be a jury who will select winners for different categories within the films that are selected.

Rules & Terms

* In order to submit a film, you must own the rights or have permission from the owner.
* The films must be subtitled in English 
* Submission fee is non-refundable
* A downloadable high-definition link (.mov or .mp4) of the film is required in case the movie is selected to be screened.
* TREFF has the rights to use pictures or short clips of the submitted material for promotional purposes. 
* Filmmakers must include a brief synopsis of the film and a description of how the film can be used for teaching purposes. 
* The films must have been completed after the year 2018
