Our club is a free, volunteer based program founded on three principles: Community, Creativity & Joy. The AFC is committed to provide opportunities for everyone in the club. We are a 501(c)3 dedicated to advancing careers, expanding your network and increasing skill sets while making ones original content. About us
It's very simple. Stop waiting, start doing. If you have a script or story that you want to tell, join the club now. By joining the club the AFC will give you all the tools needed to turn your story into a standardized script, a special presentation podcast of your original story, funds for your project and the crew to make it. The A.F.C. is designed to provide working opportunities for everyone in the club which includes talent, writers, directors as well as producers.
Our Mission:
To generally foster filmmakers, writers, producers, talents, artist's businesses and the interests of those having a common financial or professional interest on the local, state, national and international plane, to accelerate reliable information as to the standing of filmmakers, related business firms and other related matters, to procure equal opportunity for investors and filmmakers, and of those having a common place, business, financial or professional interest within the general area, to promote and engage, to advance the civic, commercial, industrial, professional and agricultural media interests itself and in consort with other recognized organizations in the club, to promote the club and the prosperity of our members & to stimulate the public sentiment to these ends.
"The Astor Goes To" is what you will hear before you are called by name. At the closing ceremony of the Triborough Film Festival you will join the AFC on the Red Carpet for the annual Astor Award Ceremony. Spend the afternoon perusing among the vendors open market, raffles, followed by the award ceremony which will be streaming live as well. Join the VIP after party to rub shoulders with the winners and future collaborators.
The Astor Award is a special honor at the Triborough Film Festival that recognizes a film, filmmaker, or creative work that exemplifies artistic excellence, cultural significance, and a deep connection to Cinema as well as New York City. Named in homage to Astoria, a historic hub for filmmaking, The Astor Award highlights contributions that showcase outstanding craftsmanship, innovation, and impact within the independent film community. This prestigious award celebrates the spirit of storytelling that resonates with diverse audiences and honors cinematic works that leave a lasting legacy.

1. AFC Choice Award – A special recognition award chosen by the Astoria Filmmakers Club for a film that exemplifies outstanding storytelling, innovation, or impact.
2. Best Actor – Awarded to an outstanding leading performance by a male-identifying actor in a film.
3. Best Actress – Recognizes an exceptional leading performance by a female-identifying actor in a film.
4. Best Animation – Celebrates excellence in animated storytelling, honoring creativity in visual design and motion.
5. Best Cinematography – Acknowledges the most visually compelling and well-shot film, considering lighting, framing, and camera work.
6. Best Comedy – Honors a film that delivers humor, wit, and comedic excellence, leaving audiences entertained.
7. Best Director – Awarded to the filmmaker whose vision, leadership, and artistic direction stand out among the nominees.

12. Best Lighting Design – Recognizes exceptional use of lighting to enhance mood, atmosphere, and visual storytelling.
13. Best Makeup – Awarded to the most impressive use of makeup artistry in bringing characters and visuals to life.
14. Best Original Song – Honors an outstanding original song composed specifically for a film, enhancing its themes and emotions.
15. Best Production Design – Celebrates excellence in set design, props, and visual environment that contribute to the film’s world-building.
16. Best Screenwriter – Awarded to the writer of the most compelling, well-structured, and original screenplay.
17. Best Short Film – Recognizes the best short-format film that tells a powerful story within a limited runtime.
18. Best Sound – Honors excellence in sound design, including effects, mixing, and overall auditory impact.
19. Best Soundtrack – Recognizes the best overall musical score or selection of music that enhances a film’s storytelling.
20. Best Supporting Actor – Acknowledges a standout performance by a male-identifying actor in a supporting role.
21. Best Supporting Actress – Recognizes an outstanding performance by a female-identifying actor in a supporting role.
22. Best Thriller/Suspense – Celebrates a film that masterfully builds tension, suspense, and psychological intrigue.
23. Best Wardrobe – Honors costume design that enhances character development and storytelling through wardrobe choices.
24. Honorable Mention – Given to films that deserve special recognition for their unique contributions to the festival.
The Final Award is called The Astor Award, hand selected by the Founder of The Astoria Filmmakers Club & Executive Director of the Triborough Film Festival.
