Script Selections

The top 5 Screenplays will be showcased across the Community platform, featured in the Lift-Off newsletter which is sent to our 35,000 filmmakers, and shared across social media.

Screenwriters will be invited to include their work in our online Community portal. The portal is a curated database of quality scripts that are looking for production.

Lift-Off Community directors and producers are actively looking for projects to develop. They can use the portal to find their next potential projects, and contact the writers directly to discuss the optioning of scripts, development and rights.
All entries should be completed scripts, short or feature length, and you should be actively looking for collaboration or development.

If you pay a submission fee, we will screen your work. Our programme's are separated into categories based on your content's level of storytelling, production value, message and acting. During the festival we have two voting committees - our professional jury and the general public.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Our online festivals are NOT a pay for vote platform. If you invite your friends and family to watch either the physical or online screenings it is encouraged that they engage with as much of the content as possible and vote accordingly. This is why two votes are always counted from each audience member with both votes resulting in 1 point for each film. We are doing our best to invite new and exciting audiences to genuine indie film content - if you can encourage your audiences to do the same we will build a wonderful network of opportunity for all, no matter where you are starting out.

Proudly, we have no other restrictions for your work. This includes your work's premier status, it's age and/or whether your work has been made available online.

Overall Rating

Toronto thankfully included feature comedy, Battleground State, in its official line up, and I couldn't be happier to be involved in such a dedicated and name-brand festival like Lift Off. I felt personally catered for and given good advice, with the only slight qualm being that with such a global audience films could certainly be promoted by the festival (at least online anyway) even moreso.

    Response from festival:

Thanks for being an active member of the festival and surrounding events. We would LOVE to know more about what's next in your filmmaking timeline, so be sure to stay connected to us via the Lift-Off Network Festival Hub Jake!

The liftoff team reached out to me saying my project is an official selection and that I will receive an email in regards to that. I never did and that was in July 2021. I emailed a couple of times after that, reuploaded the film as asked but zero communication since then. I've never received an email nor seen it on their website.

    Response from festival:

    Hi Krishna,

Really sorry to hear this was your experience. This is unusual, and we will absolutely be looking into. We are aware the invite emails can fall into spam. We know you uploaded your film via the link sent to you via our support team, but unfortuantely it does seem there was a glitch with this upload. We'd still love to screen It's A Love - Hate Thing, so we've added the details to our Sydney Lift-Off. We'll email you privately to confirm this.

  • Only about 4 categories were awarded out of 14 categories that were called for submission. The online sessions were mostly two very young ladies having teenage conversations about nothing important. The sessions had very few views and nothing about the judges and the reviews of the judges. Felt it was an absolute waste of my money and the long wait.

    Response from festival:

Sorry to hear you felt this way about the festival Randy. We enjoy screening work like your animated music video because we love showcasing work of all styles and genres. The jury give out awards based on what content is screening, but we have 14 categories for our annual award ceremony: It's a shame you didn't enjoy the online videos either, which are free filmmaker workshops based on topics we always hear creatives want answers to, and festival updates shouting out different films. Our platform is all about networking, education and supporting indie talent and we're sorry you didn't enjoy being a part of that.

  • I going to real festivals, thanks for everything, bye bye.

    Response from festival:

    Hi Allan,

We too can't wait to get back to live screenings. But whilst that has not been physically possible during the pandemic, we strongly believe we've created a format that a lot of people have found high value in (as evident in the other reviews on here).

It was a pleasure to screen Horseman in our features programme, and it was great to have you join our Network Hub, which is to aid your networking and provide educational materials too. You will now have permanent access to this platform.

If you do not feel this provided value, we'd love to continue the dialogue and hear what could have improved your experience in this Covid-compativle format. Email us on to continue the conversation.
