The Toronto Irish Film Festival (TIRFF) was founded in April 2009.

Now in its 11th year, the Toronto Irish Film Festival celebrates the very best of Irish cinema and promotes the work of Irish filmmakers to the Greater Toronto Irish community and the Toronto film festival public. With sold-out screenings from 2010 to 2020, TIRFF has quickly assumed the role of leading promoter of Irish film within Canada.

Reaching a potential audience of 250,000 Torontonians of Irish descent, as well as millions of Toronto-based movie lovers, TIRFF provides a unique cultural destination for Toronto and Ontario based ex-patriots to connect with the culture of home through the magic of cinema.

Open to features, shorts and documentaries from Irish filmmakers in Ireland and aboard as well as Irish themed films.

Overall Rating
  • Great festival, and well-attended (especially for a weekend-afternoon shorts showcase!) at one of the best theatres in the city. John and Michael were super accommodating, too!

This is a great festival. The festival directors are very friendly and made me feel very welcome. They hosted opening and closing receptions so there were many opportunities to meet and engage with people. At the screenings, they invited filmmakers to speak. With the quality of the films scheduled and the screenings taking place at the TIFF Lightbox theater in Toronto, it was a huge honour to be included. I strongly recommend this festival.

I was disappointed that I couldn't attend the festival, but felt included throughout and very much part of the event. A colleague attended on my behalf and said he felt like he was back home for the afternoon and loved every minute. Michael was great to deal with and hopefully, if my next work is selected, I will be in a position to travel over - I hope so!! Thanks to Michael and all the team!
