The Toronto Irish Film Festival (TIRFF) was founded in April 2009.

**** In 2021-2, in a response to the uncertainty of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and cinema closures in Toronto, TIRFF will be shifting to a hybrid festival model that mixes online screenings with year round film events (outdoor, smaller venues once in cinema is allowed etc). We believe in the theatrical experience and will return to in-cinema as soon as safety measures allow.

Filmmakers will be notified on an ongoing basis as screenings and program is locked throughout the year.

Open to features, shorts and documentaries from Irish filmmakers in Ireland and aboard as well as Irish themed films.

  • Great festival, and well-attended (especially for a weekend-afternoon shorts showcase!) at one of the best theatres in the city. John and Michael were super accommodating, too!

This is a great festival. The festival directors are very friendly and made me feel very welcome. They hosted opening and closing receptions so there were many opportunities to meet and engage with people. At the screenings, they invited filmmakers to speak. With the quality of the films scheduled and the screenings taking place at the TIFF Lightbox theater in Toronto, it was a huge honour to be included. I strongly recommend this festival.

I was disappointed that I couldn't attend the festival, but felt included throughout and very much part of the event. A colleague attended on my behalf and said he felt like he was back home for the afternoon and loved every minute. Michael was great to deal with and hopefully, if my next work is selected, I will be in a position to travel over - I hope so!! Thanks to Michael and all the team!

Could not make the festival, but delighted to be included in an excellent programme and communication with the team was great.
