Tokyo Horror Film Festival

Japan is famous for its amazing horror movies like The Ring, Ju-on, Ichi the Killer, Cure, Audition, Pulse, Jigoku, Hausu, Onibaba, One Cut of the Dead, etc. yet it doesn't have a dedicated horror festival so we'd like to change that. We're just a new small festival in our fourth year now but we hope to keep growing and become a mecca for horror fans, both domestic and international.

日本は多くの素晴らしいホラー映画で有名ですが、ホラー専用のフェスティバルがないので、私たちはそれを作りたいと思っています。私たちはまだ新しい小さな映画祭ですが、国内外のホラーファンのメッカになるように成長していきたいです。

Our first year was a huge success with a big turnout and we showed IDOL NEVER DiES, the new feature film by Noboru Iguchi who directed The Machine Girl, Mutant Girls Squad, RoboGeisha, Tomie: Unlimited, etc. We even did a special video Q&A with him.

初年度は大成功を収めることができました！ 井口昇監督の新作長編映画『IDOL NEVER DiES』を上映しました。井口監督は『片腕マシンガール』『戦闘少女 血の鉄仮面伝説』『富江 アンリミテッド』『ロボゲイシャ』などを手掛けられた監督です。井口監督には、特別にQ&A形式の素晴らしいビデオメッセージも送っていただきました。

Our second year also turned out great with many people coming despite some bad weather (lightning and heavy rain).

2年目もとても順調に幕を閉じることが出来ました。観客と映画製作者の皆様に心より感謝申し上げます。雷雨の悪天候にも関わらず、たくさんの方にお越しいただきました。

Our third year had a lot of people come out as well and HorrorPress.com was kind enough to review some of our films as they did the previous year too.

3 年目も多くの方にご来場いただきました。また、有り難いことにHorrorPress.com では昨年同様、私たちの上映映画のいくつかをレビューしていただきました。

We absolutely love and breathe horror in all its ghastly gruesome forms. We want to support the local scene here as well as help overseas filmmakers connect with Japanese horror fans. Our judges consist of both Japanese and Americans with experience in film production and an unhealthy obsession with horror. Please submit your movies either with English subtitles or in English. We don't require Japanese subtitles.

私たちは本当にホラーが大好きで、海外の映画制作者が日本のホラーファンと繋がる手助けをするだけでなく、この地をサポートしたいと思っています。審査員は、映画制作経験のある日本人とアメリカ人で構成されています。応募作品は、英語字幕付き、または英語でお願いします。日本語の字幕は必要ありません。

All chosen films will screen to a live audience in Nakano, Tokyo. We welcome sci-fi too and anything horror adjacent like cult, dark fantasy, spooky animation, mystery, a true crime documentary or horror related doc, etc. During our festival, we'll conduct Q&As with attending cast and crew as well as ask the audience their opinions of the movies.

選ばれた作品は、東京の中野で観客の前で上映されます。SFはもちろん、カルト、ダークファンタジー、不気味なアニメーション、ミステリー、実録の犯罪ドキュメンタリー、ホラー関連ドキュメントなど、ホラーに関連するものなら何でも歓迎です。映画祭期間中は、参加キャスト・監督へのQ&Aや、観客の皆様から映画の感想をお伺いする予定です。
