The Violette Film Festival is an Independent film festival that will be held at the historic Merced Theater in Merced California!

Our festival was started in 2017 with one thought in mind...To give all filmmakers young and old a fair chance at a worlds stage.

Violette films and the Merced Theater Foundation are proud to present the 6th Annual Violette International Film Festival. This Live event will be held in early November 2024 (date TBA) at the Art Kamangar Center at the Merced Theater in downtown Merced, California. The festival will host a red carpet event and show case short films from local and International filmmakers. THIS WILL BE A FREE EVENT in honor of Veterans Day.

Violette Films, a local film company based in Merced California, has partnered with the Merced Theater Foundation to make this event possible. Bringing Hollywood to the central valley for one epic night. Our goal is to bring a unique entertainment experience to the city of Merced as well as showcase some of the central valleys most talented film makers along side international short films from All around the world.
More information on show times, film blocks and more will be available by the beginning of October 2024.

Our festival is designed to be fun for all ages and we encourage all film makers, from first timers to experienced professionals, to submit films for the world to see. We understand not everyone has access to huge budgets and expensive equipment so our festival stands as an outlet for the underground, Indie and amateur film makers to show the world what they are made of side by side with industry professional and student films. In our first year we had films from all over the world from France to Iraq, Canada to Mexico and films from right here in the central part of California.
At our festival you will not be turned down or away due to budgets, equipment, money or production limitations...everyone has a voice and a story to tell...as long as the story is clear and entertaining, we will be honored to screen it. Weather it is filmed on a iPhone or red epic cinema camera, we are looking for stories to share!

Should the film be accepted to play during the Festival, the filmmaker will have the opportunity to supply the festival with their most recent version.

I want to thank the Violette Film Festival for accepting our film Dream Loop into their festival. We went to the festival and we had a nice time. It was held in a really beautiful historic theater. The quality of the films shown was good and the hosts were very nice. One thing they might want to think about changing, is to ask all filmmakers to come up for Q&A after each block. I have moderated a festival and I know the filmmakers really enjoy the Q&A sessions with questions from the audience. Overall, I would recommend this festival to others. There was a Veterans day parade outside the theater right before the festival started which added to the fun.
