The North Film Festival (TNFF) - Submission Guidelines and Rules:
Main Rule for Screening Eligibility:
The festival will only screen films with representatives present at the event in Madrid - Spain. If no representative is available, the film will remain selected but will only be showcased online. Priority for screenings is given to films with representatives attending the festival, including local filmmakers from Spain.
Rule: Timely Filmmaker Engagement and File Submission
As part of our commitment to running a well-organized and professional festival, filmmakers are required to stay engaged and respond promptly to all communication. This includes submitting files, attendance forms, and other requested materials by the stated deadlines.
Failure to meet these deadlines may result in your film being excluded from the schedule, as we cannot make adjustments once the final program is locked. It is the filmmaker's responsibility to provide the necessary materials on time. After the deadlines have passed, no further accommodations can be made.
STUDENTS: We are proud to support student filmmakers worldwide by offering a discounted submission fee. However, if you submit your film under the student category, you must be prepared to provide valid proof of your student status upon request. Failure to do so will result in your film being removed from the selection, nominations, and schedule, as it constitutes a violation of our terms and rules.
Late Submissions and Screening Limitations:
If you submit your film within two months of the festival’s start date, please note that selected films will primarily be scheduled for online screenings due to constraints with the finalized in-person schedule. While we will make every effort to accommodate your film for an in-person screening if space becomes available, this cannot be guaranteed. Please keep this in mind when submitting close to the festival date.
Nominations Eligibility for Late Submissions:
Films submitted within one month of the festival’s start date may still be selected for screening ONLINE only but will not be eligible for nominations in any award categories. This is to ensure fairness and allow adequate time for the selection committee to review all submissions thoroughly.
We encourage filmmakers to submit their projects as early as possible to ensure the best possible experience at the festival.
DCP Delivery Policy:
All selected films must comply strictly with the DCP delivery requirements as outlined in our communications. DCPs that exceed the specified size must be sent by post to the official venue, and no exceptions will be made. Failure to follow the DCP instructions regarding file size, naming conventions, and delivery method will be considered a breach of festival regulations and may result in disqualification. We will not adapt, reformat, or troubleshoot DCPs that do not follow the required guidelines. This rule is final and non-negotiable. Please read carefully and ensure your technical team or post-production partner adheres to it.
At the (The North Film Festival), DCPs are typically requested 1 or 2 months prior to the festival's launch. To ensure a smooth process, multiple reminders will be sent to filmmakers. We kindly request all participants to ensure they can provide the proper DCP format within the specified timeframe. Your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines will greatly contribute to the success of the festival and the seamless presentation of your film.

Rules & Terms of Entry
1. Entries in foreign languages must come with English subtitles include Spanish films (This is an International Film Festival. English Rules).
2. All entries must have been completed AFTER 2024
3. Any film submitted to the TNFF can be re-submitted at any time for a second chance.
4. Works in progress are accepted.
5. You must own or be given all of the rights to anything you submit to the festival.
6. Multiple entries are allowed. You can submit more than one film to the same category. But keep in mind the entry fee must be paid for each one.
7. At our discretion, we may choose to transfer a film to the correct category, but only if the appropriate level of submission fee has been paid.
8. A screening committee determines which films shall be exhibited, submissions are not guaranteed to be shown. All decisions of the committee are final. Except for the audience award, separate juries select festival winners
9. After a film has been an official selection, the filmmaker will be notified.
10. Winners will be presented with their awards during the TNFF Awards Ceremony Gala, Jan 15, 2027 at our venue.
11. Submissions are NON-refundable. We cannot be held liable for materials which are lost or damaged.
12. We totally retain the right to change the date and venue of the festival under special circumstances. All filmmakers will be informed about any changes through our online website + social media platforms or email.
13. The festival will not pay any fee for screening a film.
14. If your film is selected by our festival, you automatically agree that we may use images from your project for marketing purposes for our festival. If you do not agreed, and do not consent to give us promotional rights to your material, please let us know with a call or via email; and then we will withdraw your film from the promotion of our festival. If we do not receive any notification from you within 48 hours after your film is selected, we will assume that you agree this policy.
15. We don't give your information to 3rd Parties.
16. We reserve the right to update our terms and conditions.
17. By submitting to us, you give us the right to screen your film in front of a live audience in Madrid, Spain.
18. ***Due to the limited screening time, screenings are prioritized with a representative of the same who attends in person during the days of the Festival. Therefore, confirm your attendance as soon as possible, otherwise they will be moved to the Online Section. Please keep that in mind!!!***
19. Before submitting your projects to The North Film Festival (TNFF), we kindly requested that you carefully read and familiarize yourself with our festival's terms and rules. As part of our commitment to maintaining a respectful and positive environment, TNFF retained the right to unselect any film, even if it had been nominated, if we found any form of disrespect towards our festival.
Venue Accessibility & Festival Limitations
The North Film Festival is an independent festival operating in small venues and historic theater spaces. While we welcome filmmakers and guests of all backgrounds and abilities, we cannot guarantee that all venues, screening rooms, events, workshops, networking activities, bars, restaurants, parties, or third-party locations will meet every accessibility requirement.
Filmmakers and guests requiring specific accommodations are strongly encouraged to contact the festival in advance. While the festival will make reasonable efforts to assist whenever possible, participation is subject to the physical limitations, policies, and conditions of the venues used by the festival.
The festival does not guarantee accessibility accommodations, transportation assistance, personal assistance services, lodging accommodations, or venue modifications.
Independent Festival Disclosure
The North Film Festival is a small independent festival operated by a limited team and budget. Unlike major festivals such as Cannes, Tribeca, Sundance, TIFF, or similar organizations, TNFF does not provide travel grants, accommodation support, accessibility funding, transportation services, industry representation, distribution guarantees, meetings, business opportunities, networking guarantees, or other professional services unless explicitly announced in writing by the festival.
Participation in the festival does not guarantee access to industry meetings, distribution opportunities, development opportunities, financing opportunities, educational partnerships, media coverage, or business introductions.
WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT POLICY
Please note that winners are never informed in advance under any circumstances.
All awards are officially revealed during the Gala Awards ceremony or the final event of the edition in which you are participating.
This policy ensures fairness, transparency, and a shared experience for all filmmakers.
Furthermore, please be informed that films that have been selected or nominated can also be removed from our festival if they exhibit disrespect towards our festival or fail to comply with the guidelines, rules, and terms mentioned.
I also acknowledge that the film submission fee does not guarantee acceptance and no refund will be provided if my film is not selected.
Applicants who do not follow the guidelines will not be accepted.

The purpose of this data processing is to manage participation in the festival, including informative, logistical, and promotional communications related to the event. Data will not be transferred to third parties unless legally required or expressly authorized by the data subject.
Participants may exercise their rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection by sending a written request to Rodartin S.L. at the postal address above or by email to info@rodartin.com, including a copy of their identification document.

El festival solo proyectará películas cuyos representantes estén presentes en el evento en Madrid, España. Si no hay ningún representante disponible, la película permanecerá seleccionada, pero solo se mostrará en línea. La prioridad para las proyecciones se otorga a las películas con representantes que asistan al festival, incluidos los cineastas locales de España.

Como parte de nuestro compromiso de organizar un festival profesional y bien estructurado, se requiere que los cineastas se mantengan atentos y respondan puntualmente a todas las comunicaciones. El incumplimiento de estos plazos puede resultar en que su película sea excluida del programa, ya que no podemos realizar ajustes una vez que el programa final esté cerrado. Es responsabilidad del cineasta proporcionar los materiales necesarios a tiempo. Una vez vencidos los plazos, no se podrán realizar más excepciones.
ESTUDIANTES:
Nos enorgullece apoyar a cineastas estudiantes de todo el mundo ofreciendo una tarifa de inscripción reducida. Sin embargo, si envía su película bajo la categoría de estudiante, deberá estar preparado para proporcionar una prueba válida de su condición de estudiante cuando se le solicite. No poder proporcionar dicha prueba resultará en que su película sea eliminada de la selección, nominaciones y programación, ya que constituye una violación de nuestros términos y reglas.
Envíos tardíos y limitaciones de proyección
Si envía su película dentro de los dos meses previos a la fecha de inicio del festival, tenga en cuenta que las películas seleccionadas se programarán principalmente para proyecciones en línea debido a las limitaciones del calendario presencial ya finalizado. Aunque haremos todo lo posible por acomodar su película para una proyección presencial si se libera algún espacio, esto no puede garantizarse. Téngalo en cuenta al enviar su película cerca de la fecha del festival.
Elegibilidad para nominaciones en envíos tardíos
Las películas enviadas dentro del último mes antes del inicio del festival podrán ser seleccionadas para proyección únicamente en línea, pero no serán elegibles para nominaciones en ninguna categoría de premios. Esta medida se adopta para garantizar la equidad y permitir al comité de selección el tiempo suficiente para revisar todas las propuestas de forma adecuada.
Animamos a los cineastas a enviar sus proyectos lo antes posible para garantizar la mejor experiencia posible en el festival.
Política de entrega de DCP
Todas las películas seleccionadas deben cumplir estrictamente con los requisitos de entrega de DCP tal como se describen en nuestras comunicaciones. Los DCP que superen el tamaño especificado deberán enviarse por correo postal al lugar oficial del evento, y no se harán excepciones.
El incumplimiento de las instrucciones relativas al tamaño del archivo, las convenciones de nomenclatura y el método de entrega se considerará una violación de las normas del festival y puede resultar en la descalificación. No adaptaremos, reformatearemos ni solucionaremos problemas de DCP que no cumplan con las directrices requeridas. Esta regla es final y no negociable. Por favor, léala cuidadosamente y asegúrese de que su equipo técnico o socio de posproducción la respete.
En The North Film Festival, los DCP suelen solicitarse 1 o 2 meses antes del inicio del festival. Para garantizar un proceso fluido, se enviarán varios recordatorios a los cineastas. Reglas y Términos de Participación
Las películas en idiomas extranjeros deben incluir subtítulos en inglés, incluidas las películas en español (este es un Festival Internacional de Cine. Reglas en inglés).
Todas las obras deben haber sido finalizadas después de 2024.
Cualquier película enviada a TNFF puede volver a enviarse en cualquier momento para tener una segunda oportunidad.
Se aceptan works in progress (trabajos en progreso).
Debe poseer o haber obtenido todos los derechos de cualquier material que envíe al festival.
Se permiten múltiples envíos. Puede enviar más de una película a la misma categoría. Sin embargo, tenga en cuenta que se debe pagar la tarifa de inscripción por cada una.
A nuestra discreción, podremos transferir una película a la categoría correcta, pero solo si se ha pagado la tarifa de inscripción correspondiente.
Un comité de proyección determina qué películas serán exhibidas; el envío no garantiza la proyección. Todas las decisiones del comité son finales. Excepto el premio del público, los ganadores del festival serán seleccionados por jurados independientes.
Una vez que una película sea selección oficial, el cineasta será notificado.
Los ganadores recibirán sus premios durante la Gala de Premios de TNFF, el 15 de enero de 2027 en nuestra sede.
Las inscripciones no son reembolsables. No podemos hacernos responsables de materiales perdidos o dañados.
Nos reservamos totalmente el derecho de cambiar la fecha y el lugar del festival en circunstancias especiales. Todos los cineastas serán informados de cualquier cambio a través de nuestro sitio web, redes sociales o correo electrónico.
El festival no pagará ninguna tarifa por la proyección de una película.
Si su película es seleccionada por nuestro festival, usted acepta automáticamente que podamos utilizar imágenes de su proyecto con fines promocionales para el festival. Si no está de acuerdo y no consiente otorgarnos derechos promocionales sobre su material, notifíquenos por teléfono o correo electrónico; en ese caso retiraremos su película de la promoción del festival. Si no recibimos ninguna notificación dentro de las 48 horas posteriores a la selección, asumiremos que acepta esta política.
No compartimos su información con terceros.
Nos reservamos el derecho de actualizar nuestros términos y condiciones.
Al enviar su película, nos concede el derecho de proyectarla ante una audiencia en vivo en Madrid, España.
Debido al tiempo limitado de proyección, se dará prioridad a las películas que cuenten con un representante que asista presencialmente durante los días del festival. Por lo tanto, confirme su asistencia lo antes posible; de lo contrario, su película será trasladada a la sección online. ¡Téngalo en cuenta!

Tened en cuenta que los ganadores nunca son informados con antelación bajo ninguna circunstancia.
Todos los premios se anuncian oficialmente durante la Gala de Premios o en el evento final de la edición en la que estéis participando.
Esta política garantiza la equidad, la transparencia y una experiencia compartida para todos los cineastas.
Antes de enviar su proyecto a The North Film Festival (TNFF), le pedimos amablemente que lea cuidadosamente y se familiarice con los términos y reglas del festival. Como parte de nuestro compromiso de mantener un entorno respetuoso y positivo, TNFF se reserva el derecho de retirar la selección de cualquier película, incluso si ya hubiera sido nominada, si detectamos cualquier forma de falta de respeto hacia nuestro festival.
Además, tenga en cuenta que las películas seleccionadas o nominadas también pueden ser retiradas del festival si muestran falta de respeto hacia el festival o si no cumplen con las directrices, reglas y términos mencionados.
Asimismo, reconozco que la tarifa de envío de la película no garantiza la aceptación y que no se proporcionará ningún reembolso si mi película no es seleccionada.
