The Dumbest Sh!t I Ever Saw is an animation anti-festival, encouraging animators to make a dumb short film just for fun.
We held the very first Dumbest Sh!t in 2011, born out of frustration over the perpetual cycle of spending months or years working on scripts, slaving over serious films, submitting to festivals. Rinse, repeat. We wanted to embrace filmmaking just for fun, to create a community where animated shorts are free from pressure or ideas on what’s considered acceptable as artistic filmmaking. What came out of it was the baddest, dumbest, sickest, and most glorious animation anti-festival we could have ever imagined.

Rules & Terms

Rules! It’s pretty simple:
• No more than 2 minutes long.
• It better be as funny, weird, angry, silly, dumb or shitty as possible. Pretty low brow, but not too low. Medium brow?
• No need to take the name of this show TOO literally.
• No racism/sexism/homophobia/transphobia/etc.

    I am very pleased to have gotten my first ever Selection from this festival. The concept is highly entertaining, the people behind it all are incredibly accommodating and friendly, and I only wish I could have been there!
