  • It's been a great pleasure to participate at Doc Screenings film festival with my short film Other Times winning an award for Best Art / Experimental Documentary. It is an honour to have the film screened in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Just a scam. I was unable to attend the Tbilisi screening of my film but a friend was excited to go on my behalf. When I wrote to the organizer to let him know she was coming he told me the screening was “sold out.” My friend decided to poke her head in anyway but arrived to an empty room. The organizer then switched up his story and told me the screening was held at a secret venue where “important and influential people” watched my film. I asked the organizer repeatedly to send me photos or any proof of this secret screening with mystery people. He eventually sent me a photo of a television screen with my movie on it. He also sent photos of a screening of my film to a room of about seven people the day *before* the movie was scheduled to premiere. I was never informed about this early screening.

All this cost me $84.00 in entry fees. A very disappointing, eye-opening introduction to the world of micro film festivals. Be careful out there folks.

Thank you very much for your review and for sharing your experience. We regret you could not attend the event and were not satisfied although we screened your film twice instead of once.
We've improved our processes and communication to provide the opportunity for everyone to attend the event, even in case of any changes that may occur.

    Warm regards,

  • It would be a joy and an honor for me if my film about Parajanov is presented in your festival in Georgia at home! Your people are suffering from the crisis and for me your festival is a magnificent act of resistance!

Doc Screenings was a brilliant festival and I was proud to be a part of it. The films were thematically diverse and all of a high quality. Most importantly, all the filmmakers put human beings at the heart of their artistic pursuit, serving as a timely reminder that our stories are the most valuable resource we have in a fractured world.
