All films must be recorded in Antarctica, or focused directly on topics about Antarctica or the Southern Ocean.
Based in New Zealand, The Antarctic Film Festival is hosted by the New Zealand Antarctic Society, a non-profit "Voice for the Antarctic" bringing Antarctica to the world.
The festival tours New Zealand, including small provincial towns.
Festival screenings may be extended to other countries if suitable partner hosts are available.

Each screening is introduced by a short talk by someone who has spent time in Antarctica, followed by a main feature selection of films that run for approximately 70 to 80 minutes.

We are looking for a variety of films, from scientific documentary shorts, to purely artistic, and straight-up entertainment. We like to keep things interesting by showing a few social or other 10 to 30 second short clips between the main films too.
