1. Films submitted to the festival must substantially feature a Motorcycle Adventure. For the purposes of the Adventure Motorcycle Film Festival, a Motorcycle Adventure is defined as any journey, of any duration, undertaken by a powered 2-wheeled vehicle (or a modified 2-wheeled vehicle, specifically a motorcycle sidecar or a motorised tricycle).
2. A Motorcycle Adventure Film is any film depicting a Motorcycle Adventure, be it non-fiction, fiction, live-action, animated, or any combination of these genres.
3. Films must be submitted in English or include English subtitles (switchable on/off). Submitters are encouraged to submit their films with English subtitles, regardless of language, for accessibility reasons.
4. Films submitted to the Adventure Motorcycle Film Festival must have been completed not earlier than 2 years prior to the opening of the 2027 edition of the Adventure Motorcycle Film Festival. The opening of the 2027 edition of the festival was 3rd April 2026, therefore the festival will only accept film submissions completed on 3rd April 2024 or a later date, up until the festival’s Regular Deadline of 30th October 2026. In this context, a completed film is understood to mean a fully finished film, ready to be published or publicly viewed.
5. Films can only be submitted via the Adventure Motorcycle Film Festival’s FilmFreeway submission page.
6. The Submission Fee is applicable for each submitted film and is non-refundable.
7. Each filmmaker must hold all the necessary rights for each film they submit, and must have cleared all applicable rights and licenses, including but not limited to copyright, trademark, royalty and credits, before submitting their film(s) to the Adventure Motorcycle Film Festival. Each filmmaker agrees to indemnify the Adventure Motorcycle Film Festival in the event that such rights have not been properly transferred. Each filmmaker confirms that any film they submit is not subject to any litigation nor is threatened by any litigation.
8. For each film chosen for inclusion in the festival programme, the respective filmmaker authorises the Adventure Motorcycle Film Festival to screen their film(s) and provide the film in the required format for theatre screening. Each filmmaker also grants the Adventure Motorcycle Film Festival permission to use stills and short excerpts from their film(s) for festival promotional purposes.
9. Submissions will be reviewed by the Adventure Motorcycle Film Festival judging panel. The filmmakers whose film(s) have been chosen for inclusion in the festival programme (i.e. for showing on 27th February 2027) will be notified via email on or before 30th November 2026.
10. Films submitted to the Adventure Motorcycle Film Festival may not be withdrawn once they have been accepted, except at the discretion of the Adventure Motorcycle Film Festival.
11. For AMFF (2027) a new prize category has been created. The "Spirit of Independent Filmmaking Award" will be awarded to the best film created by a director who is a first-time filmmaker and/or an amateur filmmaker and has produced the film largely on their own or with minimal assistance. This award recognises creativity, resourcefulness, and the unique vision of filmmakers who independently bring their adventure motorcycle stories to life.
