Exciting news! We're thrilled to announce 2025 The Great Film Festival! Building on the success of The Great Film Club, this festival will give filmmakers the chance to showcase their full-length works in a supportive, community-driven environment right in the heart of Hollywood.

All feature films will be considered, with priority given to premieres, especially California premieres.

We are now accepting short film submissions of all genres, with a maximum runtime of 15 minutes. Awards will be given for the best in each category.

Attendance is required, as our goal is to foster meaningful connections within the filmmaking community.

The festival will be hosted at The Eastwood, a rapidly growing favorite theater among filmmakers in Hollywood. Known for its perfect blend of modern amenities and historical charm, The Eastwood offers a professional environment for film debuts. Its state-of-the-art projection and sound systems ensure an outstanding viewing experience, while the venue’s welcoming atmosphere is ideal for Q&As, panel discussions, and networking opportunities.

Awards & Prizes

In comparison to The Great Film Club, we will be awarding laurels to all selected films. Additionally, we will present "Greatest in Category" awards for each genre, including:

Great Drama
Great Comedy
Great Horror
Great Experimental
Great Documentary
Great Animation
Great Reel Ladies
Great Rainbow Reel
Great Feature Film

Rules & Terms

Guidelines:

Early Entry: While early submissions are encouraged, they do not guarantee acceptance.

Submission Format: Films must be submitted via an online screener. Only one version of the film will be reviewed by our programmers.

Submission Fee: All submission fees for The Great Film Festival are non-refundable and must be paid through FilmFreeway.

Selection of Films: Films will be reviewed and selected based on the following criteria:

Quality of narrative and production values.

Independent nature of the production.

Notification: All selection decisions will be made by December 10th, 2024. Filmmakers will be notified in writing if their film has been selected or not, and successful entries will receive further instructions on deliverables.

Festival Screenings (for selected films only): Selected films must provide a ProRes MP4 file. A Digital Cinema Package (DCP) will also be accepted but must include an MP4 backup.

Scheduling (for selected films only): Screenings are scheduled at The Great Film Festival's discretion. While efforts will be made to adhere to the published schedule, changes may occur for any reason. The festival is not liable for costs associated with schedule changes.

No film can be withdrawn from the program once selected.

Promotion (for selected films only): Selected films agree to allow The Great Film Festival to promote their work on the festival’s website and social media using images and videos provided by the filmmakers.

Those selected will receive two free tickets to their program.

    The festival was an amazing experience! Had such a fun time seeing so many films in the two theaters the festival offers! Got to meet a lot of the filmmakers and had amazing chats with them all and my favorite part was the award ceremony, everyone got their own time in the spotlight! Can't wait to attend again next year!
