NORMAS DE PARTICIPAÇÃO
1. ENQUADRAMENTO
O Festival de Curtas de Surf da Lourinhã é um acontecimento singular que celebra a fusão entre a arte, a cultura e a paixão pelo surf, enraizado na diversidade cultural do oeste de Portugal.
Esta iniciativa não é apenas uma exibição de filmes, é uma celebração que junta a comunidade do surf, tanto local como global, fortalecendo os laços através da partilha de histórias que suplantam a tela e se misturam com a realidade do surf comunitário.
Numa região onde a ruralidade se cruza harmoniosamente com belas praias e ondas desafiantes, o Festival de Curtas de Surf da Lourinhã destaca-se como um ponto de encontro entre entusiastas do surf e a comunidade local, unidos por um afeto comum ao mar, à cultura e à arte. É nesta intersecção que o festival ganha vida, oferecendo uma plataforma única de expressão criativa e troca de experiências que ultrapassam as fronteiras geográficas, reforçando o sentido de pertença e identidade da comunidade do surf.
2. CALENDARIZAÇÃO
2.1 Data de entrega de filmes a competição

2.2 Datas de avaliação e seleção dos filmes a competição
15 de setembro de 2026
Os filmes a competição são avaliados, por três elementos de júri, a designar.
2.3 Data de fecho de programação
30 de setembro de 2026 (Filmes em exibição e competição).
2.4 DATA do Festival de Curtas de Surf – 12 a 17 outubro de 2026
Dias 15, 16 (exibição das curtas em competição) e 17 de outubro 2026 (entrega de prémios e exibição especial das curtas premiadas).
3. INSCRIÇÃO
3.1 Submissão
Os filmes a competição serão entregues até ao dia 31 de agosto de 2026, sendo submetidos através da plataforma:

3.2 Limite de Filmes e Reels
Apenas serão aceites três (3) filmes por realizador e um (1) reel por participante.
4. LABELS
Cada inscrição tem de ser assinalada com:
- Nome | morada completa | contacto | número de contribuinte (NIF);
- Título | objetivos | sinopse | localização | duração | formato | ano de produção;
- Secção | formato | categoria(s) para participação.
5. ELIGIBILIDADE
5.1. Os filmes a concurso deverão cumprir os seguintes requisitos:
- Data de produção em 2024, 2025 ou 2026;
- Duração até 15 minutos;
- Ter presentes as atividades de ondas como tema, dando preferência ao contexto do Oeste;
- Não estar em distribuição comercial.
5.2. Os Reels (nova categoria) a concurso deverão cumprir os seguintes requisitos:
- Data de produção em 2024, 2025 ou 2026;
- Duração até 60 segundos;
- Ter presentes as atividades de ondas como tema, dando preferência ao contexto do Oeste;
6. IDIOMAS
A língua oficial é o Português e o Inglês
São aceites inscrições em qualquer idioma desde que sejam respeitados os seguintes requisitos:
- Legendas ou voice-over em Português ou Inglês;
- Sinopse escrita em Português ou Inglês;
- O filme noutro idioma deve ter legendas em Português ou Inglês.
7. PRÉMIOS, JÚRIS E CATEGORIAS
7.1 Prémios
- Prémio Melhor Filme: 600€
- Prémio Melhor Fotografia: 300€
- Prémio Oeste: 300€
- Prémio do Público: 200€
- Prémio Reels: 100€
Adicionalmente, o Júri do Festival poderá também atribuir Menções Honrosas em cada categoria.
7.2 Júris
Os júris da competição são constituídos por profissionais do meio cultural e artístico de reconhecido mérito nacional e/ou internacional, selecionados pela organização do Festival.
Os júris serão divulgados, atempadamente, em data a definir pela organização.

8. ENVIO, FORMATOS E DIREITOS
8.1 Envio
Deve ser certificado o preenchimento e envio de todos os materiais solicitados para cada um dos filmes inscritos.
8.2 Formatos
Os filmes inscritos devem estar no seguinte formato:
- Full HD (1920×1080 px), 16:9 25fps – Formato H.264 - MP4;
Os Reels inscritos devem estar no seguinte formato:
- Vídeo vertical 9:16 (1080 × 1920 px), MP4, MOV
8.3 Direitos
Ao inscrever um filme, o/a participante assegura a titularidade de todos os direitos inerentes à inscrição e o acesso a esses mesmos direitos durante o período do Festival. A inscrição garante que os direitos de utilização detidos pelos/as autores/as, proprietários/as de direitos de autor e outros agentes envolvidos na produção do filme inscrito, à exceção dos direitos salvaguardados pelas sociedades detentoras de direitos de exibição, foram adquiridos de forma legítima e a organização reserva-se o direito da sua utilização, não estando impedida por direitos de autor ou outros direitos de terceiros, quaisquer que sejam.
9. NOTIFICAÇÃO AOS VENCEDORES
Os trabalhos inscritos a concurso serão avaliados antecipadamente e os vencedores serão notificados com antecedência devida. A presença dos participantes vencedores na Exibição e Cerimónia de Entrega de Prémios é fortemente recomendável. As decisões do júri e da organização do Festival são finais e não estão sujeitas a qualquer recurso legal.
10. FILMES SELECIONADOS
Os materiais devem ser enviados o mais cedo possível após a aceitação da participação no Festival. Adicionalmente, é necessário indicar o envio do contacto de correio eletrónico do/a dono/a dos direitos legais da obra, e posterior documento assinado aquando do envio da cópia, mencionando a autorização de exibição no Festival.
10.1 Catálogo do Festival
O catálogo incluirá as seguintes informações dos filmes: título original, título internacional, título em português, realizador, duração, país(es) de produção, ano de produção, estatuto de estreia, formato, produção, produtor, distribuidora, sinopse curta e longa em português e inglês, filmografia do realizador e contactos do produtor e do responsável da cópia do filme. Será também necessário enviar uma imagem do filme. Este ficheiro de imagem deverá ter, pelo menos, 10 cm de largura e 300 dpi de resolução, comprimido em formato JPEG – nível 8.
10.2 Press Kits
Solicita-se aos representantes dos filmes que enviem press kits e material promocional dos filmes para distribuição pela imprensa e convidados do Festival.
10.3 Trailers e Excertos
Após a seleção oficial do filme, o Festival poderá usar excertos do filme, com um máximo de 3 minutos, para propósitos promocionais. Caso seja possível, solicitamos o envio de uma hiperligação do trailer da obra ou o próprio ficheiro vídeo do trailer.
10.4 Fotografias de Promoção
Para promoção de toda a seleção dos filmes e reels, o Festival poderá usar qualquer fotografia ou clip digital do filme (sempre inferior a 3 minutos).
11. RESPONSABILIDADE DO FESTIVAL DE CURTAS DE SURF
A organização reserva-se o direito de reclassificar os filmes encaminhando-os para outras categorias quando tal for considerado adequado. O Festival recusa qualquer responsabilidade por inscrições de filmes que sejam classificados na categoria errada e filmes ou reels que deem entrada nos registos do Festival após o prazo estipulado para o efeito.
A responsabilidade do Festival está confinada a circunstâncias de conduta intencional ou negligente que se aplica unicamente em caso de perda ou dano de um trabalho inscrito. A organização do Festival não aceita qualquer responsabilidade pelo cancelamento da realização da mesma por motivos de força maior e alheios à sua vontade.

RULES OF PARTICIPATION
1. OVERVIEW
The Lourinhã Surf Short Film Festival is a unique event that celebrates the fusion of art, culture, and a passion for surfing, rooted in the cultural diversity of western Portugal.
This initiative is not merely a film screening; it is a celebration that brings together the surfing community—both local and global—strengthening bonds through the sharing of stories that transcend the screen and blend with the reality of community surfing.
In a region where rural life harmoniously blends with beautiful beaches and challenging waves, the Lourinhã Surf Short Film Festival stands out as a meeting point for surf enthusiasts and the local community, united by a shared love for the sea, culture, and art. It is at this intersection that the festival comes to life, offering a unique platform for creative expression and the exchange of experiences that transcend geographical boundaries, reinforcing the sense of belonging and identity within the surfing community.
2. SCHEDULE
2.1 Submission deadline for films in competition
August 31, 2026
2.2 Dates for evaluation and selection of films in competition
September 15, 2026
Films in competition will be evaluated by a three-member jury, to be appointed.
2.3 Programming deadline
September 30, 2026 (Films in screening and competition).
2.4 Dates of the Surf Short Film Festival – October 12–17, 2026
October 15, 16 (screening of films in competition), and 17, 2026 (awards ceremony and special screening of award-winning films).
3. REGISTRATION
3.1 Submission
Films in competition must be submitted by August 31, 2026, via the following platform:

3.2 Limit on Films and Reels
Only three (3) films per director and one (1) reel per participant will be accepted.
4. LABELS
Each entry must be labeled with:
- Name | full address | contact information | tax ID number (NIF);
- Title | objectives | synopsis | location | duration | format | year of production;
- Section | format | category(ies) for entry.
5. ELIGIBILITY
5.1. Films in competition must meet the following requirements:
- Production date in 2024, 2025, or 2026;
- Duration up to 15 minutes;
- Feature surfing activities as a theme, with preference given to the Western region;
- Not currently in commercial distribution.
5.2. Reels (new category) entered in the competition must meet the following requirements:
- Production date in 2024, 2025, or 2026;
- Duration up to 60 seconds;
- Feature surfing activities as a theme, with preference given to the Western region;
6. LANGUAGES
The official languages are Portuguese and English.
Submissions in any language are accepted provided the following requirements are met:
- Subtitles or voice-over in Portuguese or English;
- Synopsis written in Portuguese or English;
- Films in other languages must have subtitles in Portuguese or English.
7. AWARDS, JURIES, AND CATEGORIES
7.1 Awards
- Best Film Award: €600
- Best Cinematography Award: €300
- Oeste Award: €300
- Audience Award: €200
- Reels Award: €100
Additionally, the Festival Jury may also award Honorable Mentions in each category.
7.2 Juries
The competition juries are composed of professionals from the cultural and artistic fields of recognized national and/or international merit, selected by the Festival organization.
The juries will be announced in due course, on a date to be determined by the organizers.
7.3 Categories

8. SUBMISSION, FORMATS, AND RIGHTS
8.1 Submission
The completion and submission of all required materials for each submitted film must be verified.
8.2 Formats
Submitted films must be in the following format:
- Full HD (1920×1080 px), 16:9, 25 fps – H.264 format – MP4;
Submitted Reels must be in the following format:
- Vertical video 9:16 (1080 × 1920 px), MP4, MOV
8.3 Rights
By submitting a film, the participant warrants ownership of all rights inherent to the submission and access to those rights during the Festival period. The submission guarantees that the usage rights held by the authors, copyright owners, and other parties involved in the production of the submitted film—with the exception of rights safeguarded by societies holding exhibition rights—have been acquired legitimately, and the organization reserves the right to use them, unimpeded by copyright or other third-party rights of any kind.
9. NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS
Entries submitted to the competition will be evaluated in advance, and winners will be notified well in advance. The presence of winning participants at the Screening and Awards Ceremony is strongly recommended. The decisions of the jury and the Festival organization are final and are not subject to any legal appeal.
10. SELECTED FILMS
Materials must be submitted as soon as possible after acceptance into the Festival. Additionally, the email address of the legal rights holder must be provided, along with a signed document submitted upon sending the copy, authorizing the film’s screening at the Festival.
10.1 Festival Catalog
The catalog will include the following information about the films: original title, international title, Portuguese title, director, runtime, country(ies) of production, year of production, release status, format, production company, producer, distributor, short and long synopses in Portuguese and English, the director’s filmography, and contact information for the producer and the person responsible for the film copy. An image of the film must also be submitted. This image file must be at least 10 cm wide and have a resolution of 300 dpi, compressed in JPEG format – level 8.
10.2 Press Kits
Film representatives are requested to submit press kits and promotional material for the films for distribution to the press and Festival guests.
10.3 Trailers and Excerpts
Following the film’s official selection, the Festival may use excerpts from the film, up to a maximum of 3 minutes, for promotional purposes. If possible, please provide a link to the film’s trailer or the trailer video file itself.
10.4 Promotional Photos
For the promotion of the entire selection of films and reels, the Festival may use any photograph or digital clip from the film (always less than 3 minutes in length).
11. RESPONSABILITY OF THE SURF SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
The organization reserves the right to reclassify films by moving them to other categories when deemed appropriate. The Festival accepts no liability for film submissions that are classified in the wrong category or for films or reels that are received by the Festival after the deadline.
The Festival’s liability is limited to cases of intentional or negligent conduct, which applies solely in the event of loss or damage to a submitted work. The Festival organization accepts no liability for the cancellation of the event due to force majeure or circumstances beyond its control.
