SubTropical Independent Film Festival

Welcome to the third year of the SubTropical Independent Film Festival, Taipei's festival of unconventional short films.

We're looking for the offbeat, the weird, the experimental, the eccentric, the startling, the uncanny, the inexplicable. We want films that ask more questions than they answer. Films that understand the rules of filmmaking but know when to break them. Quality doesn't mean formulaic. All genres are accepted--drama, horror, science fiction, animation, documentary--just not ordinary. Surprise us.

The process:
Step 1: Official Selections named. Official selections will be named within six weeks of submission. Not all selections will be screened --only finalists.
Step 2: Finalists named. Finalists will be named by February 10th. All finalists will be publicly screened at our annual festival in Taipei.
Step 3: Screenings. Around the start of our live screenings for the public and press, awards will be announced. Primary award winners will receive a personalized trophy. If winners cannot be present at the festival, their trophies will be shipped to them. (Trophies are, of course, free of charge. Making filmmakers pay for their own trophies is an odious practice.)

歡迎來到第3屆的亞熱帶獨立影展，這是一個位於臺北的非主流短片影展。
我們希望能徵件到另類、怪異、實驗性質、古怪、令人震驚、不可思議、又莫名其妙的短片類型，當然也不僅止這些。 我們希望電影故事背後的提問比你找到的答案多；電影拍攝的形式非常多種，但是能在這些形式中打破既有的規則更是難能可貴，短片拍攝的質量亦是如此。
我們接受任何類型的短片，包含：劇情、恐怖、科幻、動畫、紀錄片，只要非同尋常都行，期待各位寄來的作品！
評選階段：
1. 影展在提交後六周內公佈，被評定為”Official Selection”的投稿短片。不是所有被評選為”Official Selection” 的短片會公開放映，只有評選為”Finalists ”才會被公開放映短片，若沒被評選為”Finalists”， 影展不會另行通知。
2. 被評選為”Finalists “投稿短片，正式名單將於2月10日前公布。 所有Finalists 將會在當屆亞熱帶獨立影展放映活動上公開放映。若是居住海外的得獎者，獎盃將會以郵寄方式寄出。
3. 獲獎名單將在放映活動前公布，獲獎者可以獲得影展訂製的獎盃。若獲獎者無法出席，獎盃則以海外郵寄方式運送。
