Stockholm Film Festival Junior was founded in 2000 with the aim to spread cinematic joy to children and youths. The main goal of the film festival is to show quality films from every corner of the world, and films which are different from the mainstream theatrical repertoire. The film screenings are free of charge to all children, youths and teachers. In addition to this, each year the festival invites a number of international filmmakers to visit Stockholm and meet the young audience and answer their questions.

We also arrange film workshops, pitch competition and the short film competition 1 Minute Film to inspire future filmmakers to take their first steps in the world of moving images.

After six days filled with cinematic experiences, the film festival ends with an award ceremony where the Bronze Horse is awarded to the Best Film, and the winners of the short film competition “1 Minute Film” are announced and receive awards. Our jury, that selects the winner of Best Film, reflects the Stockholm Film Festival Junior’s audience and therefore consists of a group of children and youths in the ages of 6 to 19.

Best feature film in the category of the ages between 6-10 and Best feature film in the ages of 11-19, both are awarded with the prestigious Bronze Horse.
