Regulations of the 10th Splat!FilmFest - International Fantastic Film Festival 2024
I. GENERAL INFORMATION
1.
Nowa Aleksandria Foundation, with its registered seat in Oś. Kol. Trębaczów 31, 21-010 Łęczna, Poland, NIP: 5050-124-534 (hereinafter referred to as the Organizer) is the organizer of the 10th Splat!FilmFest – International Fantastic Film Festival (hereinafter referred to as the Festival).
2.
The Festival will take place on 24-31 October 2024 in Warsaw and Wrocław (Poland). The Organizer reserves the right to hold the Festival also in other cities than listed in the regulations.

Detailed information on the Festival’s profile and programme sections can be found on the Festival`s website: www.splatfilmfest.com.
4.
Submission to the Festival is open to feature films and short films, completed after January 1, 2023.
5.
Films can be presented at the festival via: DCP, Blu-ray, video formats.
6.
The Festival gives priority to Polish (national) premieres, although it is not always a requirement. The Director of the Festival reserves the right to qualify to the films that are not Polish premieres.
7.
The Director of the Festival selects and individually invites the films that will participate in the Festival. The Festival Director reserves the right to choose the section in which the submitted film will be presented and to select the city where the film will be screened.
II. COMPETITIONS
1.
AUDIENCE AWARD
a) The moving pictures eligible for the Festival Audience Awards (and selected by the Audience):
- feature films (minimum 60 minutes)
- short films (maximum 30 minutes)
- films completed after January 1, 2023
b) The competition involves the following awards:
- Best Feature
- Best Screenplay Feature
- Best Feature Director
- Scariest Feature
- Most Shocking Feature
- Best Special Effects Feature
- Best Short
2.
MÉLIÈS D’ARGENT AWARD
Splat!FilmFest as a member of The Méliès International Festivals Federation is an organiser of the MÉLIÈS D’ARGENT competition. A minimum of 6 European short films selected by the Splat!FilmFest take part in the competition. The festival audience votes for the best film. The competition is intended for short films lasting no longer than 25min.
3.
The Organizer reserves the right to form new competitions not mentioned in the regulations.
III. DEADLINES, MATERIALS AND SCREENINGS

Film submissions are open from November 12, 2023 to June 30, 2024. To be eligible for selection, a film must be submitted via the FilmFreeway platform: https://filmfreeway.com/SplatFilmFest.
2.
Films submitted to the Festival must include subtitles in Polish or English if the film's original language is other than Polish or English.
3.
Selection results will be announced not later than 25 days before the Festival.
4.
The Organizer will inform about the selection results only those who have submitted their films in accordance with the regulations. The Organizer is not obliged to explain their decisions.
5.
The Festival presents films in their original languages with Polish and optionally English subtitles. The selected entrants are obliged to provide the Organizer with the English dialogue list or the English subtitled screener.
6.
For each selected film, the Festival must receive: a synopsis of the film, poster, trailer (if any), stills from the film as well as a biography and filmography of the director. The aforementioned materials must be sent not later than 5 days after receiving the selection confirmation.
7. For each selected film, the Festival must receive:
• DCP Interop/SMPTE
• the video file NOT TO BE hardsubbed / suppressed with subtitles
• subtitles in one of the following formats: .DCI .xml (preferable, either self-
contained or VF)/.srt/.stl in English (sine qua non requirement, including and not limited to English-speaking films) and upon availability:
- subtitles in Polish
- original dialogue list
• framerate per sec. = fps: 24 (IOP/SMPTE) / 25 (SMPTE)
• audio - stereo or 5.1 (preferable)
IV. PROMOTION
1.
Once the participation of the film is officially confirmed, the Organizer is authorized to use excerpts from the film (maximum 3 minutes); and to publish information about the film on the Festival website as well as in all printed promotional materials (such as the catalogue, the program brochure, press materials, etc.).

The Organizer reserves the right to use all publicity materials before, during and after the Festival.
V. TRANSPORTATION AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PRINTS
1.
If not agreed otherwise:
a) Festival film copies should be delivered electronically to the address or platform specified by the Organizer.
VI. RIGHTS TO THE FILM
1.
Submission to the Festival is open to films, to which the Participants have the legal title, including copyright and related rights, which enable the submission of the film to the Festival, and the presentation of the film during the Festival. In particular, the Participant shall ensure, that:
a) he or she has the copyrights to the film (including each creative work used in the film), or appropriate licenses in that matter;
b) he or she has the related rights to the film, or appropriate licenses in that matter;
c) distribution of images of persons in connection with the submission of the film to the Festival, or the presentation of the film during the Festival does not infringe the personal rights of the aforementioned persons.
2.
The Organizer reserves the right to: refuse the film's qualification to the Festival, suspend the film's participation in the Festival, or to withdraw the film's participation in the Festival when the Organizer becomes aware that the submitted film, or its presentation during the Festival may infringe the copyrights, related rights, or the personal rights of any third parties.
3.
In case of any third party undertakes a legal action against the Organizer due to infringement of the copyrights, the related rights to the film, or its particular elements, or that third party's personal rights, the Participant is obliged to compensate any loss suffered by the Organizer, and cover all costs related to that third party's claims (as regulated in the Polish Civil Code, Article 392).
VII. PERSONAL DATA
1.
The submission of a film to the Festival is tantamount to consenting to the processing of personal data and the image of the submitter and the data of the submitted film. In accordance with Article 13(1) and (2) of the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016, we inform that the data controller is Nowa Aleksandria Foundation, os. Kol. Trębaczów 31, 21-010 Łęczna, KRS number: 0000517489. Personal data provided by the submitter will be processed for the purpose of organizing and conducting the Splat!FilmFest film festival and activities dedicated to the festival. The recipients of personal data will be the organizers of the project. The submitter has the right to access, update, restrict processing, transfer this data, and object to further processing. This consent is not limited in time or territory and covers all forms of publication through any medium

The authorization of data shall apply to the personal data of the persons specified in the submission forms and of the persons on the payroll, in particular of the film creators and the performing artists.
3.
The Organizer may process the personal data provided by the participants in order to be admitted to the competition and to screen the film.
4.
The Organizer shall be entitled to further authorize the personal data to be processed by other entities, within the necessary scope.
VIII. CONCLUSION
1.
Entry and participation of films implies unconditional acceptance of the Regulations. In unspecified cases, the Director of the Festival will make a final decision.
2.
The Festival reserves the right to make necessary changes to the regulations, in particular when the reason is beyond the Organizer's control.
