Earn your first writing paycheck!

The third edition of SPARK - International Screenwriting Competition by ScreenReaders is open for submissions of all genres!

WHY SHOULD YOU ENTER OUR COMPETITION?

In screenwriting competitions, there are big competitions, and small ones. We're the best of both worlds.

In contrast to the big contests, which have thousands of participants that make the chances of winning microscopical, we’re a smaller competition. This means that with us, you actually have a real, significant shot at winning!

And, unlike small competitions, with us you will earn a solid sum of cash if you have the best script in the competition, that we’re sure is always welcome in every writer’s wallet.
Do you want to spend it to get the newest version of Final Draft? To travel with the family? To buy the new iPhone? To start a new business? Or, simply, to brag and impress your friends? There is no limitations or restrictions with what you can do with the prize. If you earned it, it's yours to do with it what you please!

What makes us special? We disclose the number of current submissions so that you know exactly how many scripts you're competing against and so you can value your opportunities to win the big bucks!

You will find updated information regarding our number of submissions here, so make sure to check often!

The current number of submissions you'll compete with is: 24 (UPDATED: April 20th) - Can you come on top and get the big prize?

For reference purposes, the 2023 edition of the Academy Nicholl Fellowship competition reported 5,599 entries, with only around 280 entries making it through to the quarter-finals. That means, the odds of winning were lower than 0.02%. Not with us.

We know the hustle of being a writer. That’s why we want to give that good sense of validation —accompanied with a big cash reward— to a writer that has spent their time honing their craft and overcoming the inherent obstacles of screenwriting with perseverance.

In contrast to the big contests, which have thousands of participants that make the chances of winning microscopical, we’re a smaller competition (you can see the number of current submissions updated daily above). This means that with us, you actually have a real, significant shot at winning! Of course, this competition is, by no means, a matter of luck, and only the best script will get the prize. If you have taken your time to learn the craft and wrote a strong script you believe in, don’t waste any more time and enter to compete for the big check!

DO WE OFFER FEEDBACK?

Oftentimes, it is not enough to know whether you made it through to the next round or not. In fact, it can be much more valuable to know exactly what the reader thought of your script, and why it made it through —or didn’t— in the competition, rather than only knowing if it placed or not.

If you want to know what were the strengths that made your script place, or learn that little thing that you can work on to get closer to winning the prize in the next edition of the competition, then getting feedback is the perfect option for you!

You can purchase an entry to the competition + feedback, which includes:

- Entry to the competition and the possibility to win $250.
- 2 to 3 pages of feedback detailing the strengths, weaknesses, and potential solutions to the problems the reader identifies in your script.
- An industry-standard 8-Points Rating Grid rating the key elements of your script: Title, Story, Structure & Pace, Setup, Dialogue, Characters, and Writing Style.
- An industry-standard overall score (Recommend, Consider, Pass)

Aside from working with a couple of producers with great results, we have also worked with dozens of writers that have found the notes from our readers useful. Here’s what some writers say about the notes they've received from us:

“I appreciated their attention to detail and knowledge of storytelling.” —Asif B.

“I’ve already implemented the subtle changes (they) suggested and I feel like my screenplay is all the better for it.” — Courtney K.

“I appreciated the constructive criticisms as well as the praise for the strengths of the script. I agree with all of the reader's suggestions and am in the process of rewriting to touch up those scenes.” — Rick G.

"ScreenReaders is an excellent source for script coverage. In addition to fair prices, their readers also seem to be extremely knowledgeable. Their comments were immensely helpful and on target. I will be hiring them to read any script that I write." — Crystal S. (writer and producer)

Your Feedback will be emailed to you once the Quarter-Finalists are announced. Or if your script advances further in the competition, we will hold your Feedback in our office as long as your script is still in the running for a prize.
