I'm a screenwriter from Chicago, focusing mostly on Sci-Fi. I've been writing for several years and my screenplays have won several contests and placed in dozens more. I've sold a couple of short scripts but nothing major yet. I'm unrepped but I continue to work on changing that.
I like to give back to the community and have mentored a bunch of absolute newbs to help get them started. I've helped people with their loglines, summaries and treatments. I've read the screenplays of many aspiring screenwriters, (prefaced with warning) that I give "honest" reviews and feedback. Some of the people I've helped have gone on to have their scripts place in contests.
One thing that I tell all new writers - If you're in it for the money, quit now because most of us never make a dime. If you're in it because words and stories keep spilling out of you, don't let anything stop you. Cheer for others when they succeed and cheer for yourself because you are your greatest cheerleader.
